Rangers accused of Annan shirt swap snub as League Two ... (Scottish Daily Record)

Tony Wallace says only one or two of the part-timers were able to leave with a memento of facing the Premiership winners.

“First was Davis, then somebody right after it who I can’t remember. “At Morton we played Celtic but that was the League Cup,” he said. The former Morton midfielder - who joked on Twitter he’ll need to get his son a Gers top from 'from JJB' after being snubbed - said: “I never got one. “It happened to me last time too. “I got three nutmegs in the first half and four altogether so I’m taking that as the only positive of the day. “It’s a disappointing result but I think we can be proud of how we did overall,” he said.

“That was the first time I met Craig Whyte and the thing that struck me was that this guy just wasn’t what he was claiming to be. My head was spinning at the time. It was hard to put your finger on but I knew at that point something wasn’t right. “They put together a document to try to sell the club. “Alastair Johnston was the chairman at the time. “Alastair took us aside and said, ‘I’ve got some news.

In the first of the Paul Murray Diaries, the former chairman opens up to the Record about the financial crisis which rocked Ibrox.

“But the club were able to stop that and get Duff and Phelps appointed. As it happened, it was almost to the day. He was bemused by the whole thing and so was I. “In June of 2011, you wrote a story about the club being funded by mortgaging future season tickets. He sighed: “It had been coming. “Obviously, the break-in could have been a complete coincidence. The connection almost unfailingly seemed to drop out at the most inconvenient of moments. It was a strange thing to say. “It was something like 4am and she was obviously very upset. It was a very strange time all round.” These dodgy phone lines would become a running joke between the pair of us. “Then, after all that effort, they hadn’t even grabbed anything on the way out.

Match Report: Celtic 2-1 Rangers (Rangers Football Club)

RANGERS were knocked out of the Scottish Women's Cup this afternoon after an Old Firm defeat in Airdrie.

Into the second-half, Brogan Hay delivered a dangerous ball across the face of the Celtic goal but Jane Ross couldn’t get a touch to divert it goalwards. A free-kick was swung into the box by Olivia Chance which Chloe Craig managed to get over the line at the far post. Fife was called into action shortly after as Jacynta’s effort from distance was heading goalwards but the Rangers number one got down well to hold the shot. Rangers almost responded instantly just after the half hour mark as Celtic keeper Jodie Bartle came off her line to clear a shot but she managed to recover to block Brogan Hay’s effort. Under pressure from Brianna Westrup the forward managed to get a touch on the ball to tap it beyond Jenna Fife. The Gers were dominating possession early in this cup tie as they looked to get the edge in the game.

I absolutely love football and I could not believe that this was happening to my club.” Ms McCrea recalled: “It was horrible. Is a club the size of Rangers going to go under?’ Broadfoot said: “It cost us the league. It was quite hard to take, especially from a personal point of view for being a Rangers fan.” He said: “As a footballer you don’t really think of those things.

But it was as good as with a lot of good players. “At Morton we played Celtic but that was the League Cup," Wallace said. I’d even have taken one of the young boys, who may go on to become big, big players for them. There’s a few boys who never got one and the kitman just kind of shut the door on us. They shut it but only two or three got the tops. “I never," Wallace said when asked if he got a jersey.

Rangers faced Celtic in the Scottish Women's Cup this afternoon (Rangers News)

Rangers are out of the Scottish Women's Cup after a 2-1 defeat by Celtic at Airdrie this afternoon in the Fourth Round.

The Gers players pleaded for a free-kick, claiming there was a foul on the Rangers keeper, but there was nothing given and the Light Blues were left facing a frantic 15 minutes to avoid a Cup exit – replays showing there was a foul on Fife and the goal should have been disallowed. With 15 minutes remaining, Celtic forced the ball in as they took the lead for the second time in the game, Fife failing to deal with a ball into the area before it was bundled home from close range. Celtic started to get back into the game and have more of the ball, putting the Rangers defence on the back foot and forcing a couple of saves from Jenna Fife with the prospect of extra-time looming.
