Barca's best moments came when they attacked at pace, and De Jong was key to ensuring they moved the ball quickly. Gavi kept the ball alive after Ousmane Dembele hit the post and picked out Ferran Torres, who lifted a cross for Aubameyang to nod home. Joseba Zaldua and Mikel Merino were well-positioned to clear the ball after Dembele hit the post, but they hesitated and Gavi nipped in and fed Torres for the assist on the only goal of the game.

Bayern Munich’s Thomas Müller tests positive for COVID-19 (unknown)

This is the second time Müller has contracted the virus, but he is not experiencing any symptoms.

For now, Nagelsmann will have one less option in attack while Müller is in isolation, so he’ll be forced to make more adjustments having just lost Corentin Tolisso to injury as well. He wound up testing positive ahead of February 11th of 2021, which was the date of the FIFA Club World Cup final. This means that Müller could, in theory, be back on time for the Leverkusen clash.

The Catalans are also said to be ready to let Dest go for €20m . It was not until 2020 that the full-back switched from Ajax Amsterdam to FC Barcelona for around 21 million. - It was good to see Sven Ulreich pick up a victory. According to reports in Spanish Sport , AS Monaco are still interested in signing Barcelona’s Sergino Dest. So far, however, the Monegasques have only considered loan deals. That alone, should help the team’s confidence heading into a difficult part of the schedule. - As one of the few folks in these parts who does not mind the back-three formation of Julian Nagelsmann, I will say that frequent changing of tactics probably has done more harm than either the back-four or the back-three as standalone issues. - The first half was not easy to watch. - Overall, Bayern Munich needed these three points — and got them. He looked very much like a “not quite ready for primetime player.” My guess would be that Nagelsmann is going to give Musiala a chance when he is deemed fully fit. I thought Niklas Süle was the best of the lot. That is no small feat — even against the team ranked last in the table — right for Bayern Munich. Dayot Upamecano was definitely better than his previous outings, so that was a good sign as well.

Bayern Munich Player Ratings vs Greuther Furth (unknown)

Robert Lewandowski bagged a brace as Bayern Munich secured a 4-1 victory over Greuther Furth in Bundesliga on Sunday.

His commitment was sky-high as he tried to get on the end of crosses and cause problems for the Furth defence. His creativity was an asset, as ever, although the German international may have hoped for a more consistent involvement in the final third. After a slow start, the winger looked sharp with his movements and notably set up the late goal from Choupo-Moting. It was yet another disappointing outing for Marcel Sabitzer, who offered very little creativity in the middle of the park, even after assuming the central midfield role. Sven Ulreich on the unlucky goal he conceded: "Everyone wants to do their best, but of course it was unfortunate that Sabi put his foot in it. The free-kick he conceded was a bit unfortunate, but it happens. Nagelsmann on Omar Richards: "He was a bit isolated in that left flank. Dayot Upamecano had a relatively decent game at the heart of the Bayern Munich backline. Ulreich rather made some useful saves to keep Bayern in the contest, especially in the first half. There was time for another as half-time substitute Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting netted the fourth deep in injury time, sealing three points for his team. However, Furth endured a disastrous start to the second half, conceding the equaliser inside a minute. Although the scoreline may paint a very different picture, it was an extremely difficult and tricky game for Bayern. They had a horrid first half as the spirited Furth side showed incredible resistance at the back.

Did losing Thiago Alcantara cause Bayern Munich’s defense to falter? (unknown)

The Spaniard always had a key role in Bavaria, but was he the key to the squad?

This has been reflected in the number of goals Bayern have conceded in the Bundesliga since his departure. In the season after he swapped Bavaria for Merseyside, Bayern shipped in 44. In his final three seasons in Germany, the perennial German champions never conceded more than 32 goals with Thiago at the club.

Bayern Munich got back to winning ways in the Bundesliga as Julian Nagelsmann's side secured a 4-1 victory over their Bavarian neighbours.

Meyerhofer lays the ball off to Christiansen outside the box, and his shot from range smacks the post and goes out! 66’ - WHAT A CHANCE! - A whisker away from 2-2! Just 30 seconds into the second half, Lewandowski scores a tap-in! Even without much success in the first half, his persistence to try and get on the end of something was rewarded just thirty seconds after the restart. That is the fifth own goal Fuerth have scored this season. It takes a nick off Marcel Sabitzer and Ulreich cannot get to it!

Omar Richards (LB) - 6/10 - Involved a lot down the left but disappointed in the final third. Leroy Sane (LM) - 7/10 - Significantly improved in the second half when he stayed out wide. Lucas Hernandez (CB) - 3/10 - Bodied by the excellent Leweling in the first half. Dayot Upamecano (CB) - 6/10 - Poor in the first half but a nice ball for Gnabry to tie things up after the break. Bayern charged forwards relentlessly and whipped countless crosses into the box, and that pressure eventually led to a second on the hour mark. Bayern needed just 30 seconds of the second period to get themselves level.
