Report | Wolves 0-2 Crystal Palace (wolves.co.uk)

Wolves suffered a third successive defeat in the Premier League, as Bruno Lage's side never recovered from falling two goals down in the opening period ...

Then, his defence did the work for him soon after, as Kilman tried to turn home a nod down by Romain Saiss. Wolves did improve after the interval and, with a little bit of luck, could have found an early route back into the game. First, Mateta headed straight at Jose Sa, before Daniel Podence relinquished possession and Jeffrey Schlupp was in down the left, but his low effort fizzed past the far post.

Wolves are ignoring Lage's demand and the challenge facing Hoever (Birmingham Live)

Wolverhampton Wanderers missed another opportunity on Saturday as Crystal Palace cruised to a 2-0 win at Molineux. For the second time this season, ...

Basically, on the chances Wolves had conceded up to that point, they should have conceded 28, not 17. On February 13, Wolves had the second best defensive record in the Premier League behind Manchester City, having conceded just 17 goals. In the three games before that, against Leicester, Tottenham and Arsenal, Sa faced 16 shots. The groans inside the South Bank could be heard loud and clear as Wolves failed to clear their lines in the 34th minute. Wolves have now lost three successive Premier League games following defeats to Arsenal and West Ham last week. But Wolves didn’t half give their opponents a helping hand.

Jean-Philippe Mateta and Wilfried Zaha both struck before half-time to help Palace record a 2-0 win at Molineux.

“I want to continue to bring success for the club and I don’t accept this 45 minutes, especially in front of our fans. Today, first and second goals, one man between four and then the penalty. In the second, we were tired and defended well when we needed to. “We played well in the first half. I will see the behaviour of each one. We created enough chances to score more.”

Gareth Southgate was at Molineux again with Max Kilman, one of Wolves' best players this season, among those on the England manager's radar.

Vieira said Palace played “the perfect game today, in possession”. The Palace manager added: “I loved every single part of the game. Kilman’s protection was not helped by an injury to Ki-Jana Hoever, who had to be replaced by Jonny. “I have too many kids in my team,” Lage said. Down the other channel, Conor Gallagher also found space behind Wolves’ midfield and in between the wing-backs and centre-backs. Palace were as impressive as Wolves were shocking in the first half. The Wolves manager said Kilman’s form has fluctuated either side of the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. “There’s nothing different about him,” Lage said. Palace moved into the top half, two places behind a Wolves side falling to their third consecutive defeat.

England boss Gareth Southgate is understood to be mulling over whether to hand Kilman a maiden international call-up ahead of the Three Lions’ upcoming friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast. Kilman’s current contract – worth £15,000-per-week – does not expire until the summer of 2026, so Wolves are in a strong negotiating position if any suitors head to the negotiating table. The report suggests the west Londoners have sent scouts to watch the 24-year-old, who is a boyhood Blues fan, in action.

Wolves tipped for talks over internal agreement with £8.1m star (GiveMeSport)

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been tipped to hold talks over an improved contract for a Bruno Lage favourite amid interest in the £8.1million-rated man.

But the change in the dugout has paid off for Kilman as he has played every single minute of Wolves’ campaign, emphasising his importance to the Portuguese. He reckons a hefty pay rise would show how Kilman has developed into a first-team regular thanks to a string of impressive performances over the course of the season. O’Rourke believes Wolves will look to give Kilman a more lucrative contract at the end of the season.
