Compare AEW's "Revolution" pay-per-view to WWE's house show at Madison Square Garden the day before and you get a good idea of the differences between the ...
But with few exceptions AEW is successfully serving its audience, as evidenced by the announcement that the next PPV, Double or Nothing in May, has already broken its gate record by surpassing $1 million (something WCW was never able to do in their history), and the positive feedback to Revolution. WWE had, for the first time in forever, promoted the event hard on television, largely because it hadn’t drawn well recently in the Garden and wanted to make sure, more for image reasons than anything else, that it drew a big crowd. But the company was mentioned frequently on the show, and Punk’s ring entrance harkened back to his days working ROH as a member of the Second City Saints, complete with his old-school music and ring attire (which, conveniently, including enormous oversize white shorts, perfect for contrasting buckets of blood). Wardlow, who won the Face of the Revolution ladder match to win a shot at the TNT title, finally turned babyface when he “couldn’t find” MJF’s Dynamite diamond ring, resulting in a distracted MJF eating Punk’s GTS finisher. It was a long show, 12 matches and almost five full hours if you count the “Buy In” preshow. This time, it was the announcement that Tony Khan had purchased Ring of Honor from Sinclair Broadcast Group. Khan talked about the purchase after the show, and while he acknowledged that he planned to run ROH as a separate organization as head booker, many questions remain regarding touring, talent, his own personal workload and more.

AEW President Tony Khan also addressed the fans, thanking them for their support. The AEW World Champion noted that AEW can line up challengers for him, mentioning CM Punk, Jon Moxley, Danielson and MJF by name, before stating that he will do whatever it takes to remain champion. - CM Punk Reacts To Cody Rhodes WWE Re-Debut
A closer at AEW Revolution 2022 featuring several great matches throughout the night during a long night of professoinal wrestling.
Page has put on consistently good matches as Champion. I just wish he was seen as more of a big deal. MJF beats CM Punk on a random edition of Dynamite and then loses the blow off match at Revolution. It was all to set up the Wardlow babyface turn which was perfectly executed. We’ve heard guys like JR, Mark Henry, Billy Gunn, Dustin Rhodes all suggest that the young guys in AEW should probably listen a bit more to the direction of the veterans. I like Swerve and I think the sky is the limit for him in AEW. AEW is flawless when it comes to making debuting superstars feel special. If you can’t, you don’t need to be in this business. In what was a great match, Jurassic Express retained their AEW World Tag Team Championship over reDragon and the Young Bucks. Anytime you have the Bucks and reDragon, you know it is going to be a good match. It was a great moment as he convinced both to shake hands. It seems as if Regal will be the one to unite Moxley and Danielson into a team. Yes, In know he beat Darby Allin. That wasn’t a big enough feud because they’re on the same level. I would’ve given the belts to reDragon or the Bucks. We’ll see how it plays out over the next few months. You need to cut about an hour and a half off of that total. One of my main issues is the length of the show.

CM Punk picked up the win after a war between the two men, thanks to an assist from Wardlow in another extremely strong match for Punk's AEW Career. This was a very, very hot opener for the show and also allowed Eddie to finally win the big one! AEW decided to kick off the proper PPV card with a hot match between Chris Jericho and Eddie Kingston, a feud that has heated up in recent weeks. This was a good bout and was arguably Jade's best match to date, with her coming out of this 29-0. Kicking off the AEW Revolution Buy-In, Kris Statlander and Leyla Hirsch finally met as the two have been building to a match for quite some time across all of AEW's programming. With AEW's Revolution PPV event headlined by the AEW World Championship Match between defending champion, Hangman Page, and the Undisputed Original, Adam Cole, the first PPV of 2022 from All Elite Wrestling is now in the books!
Last night, AEW held their annual event, Revolution. The show featured a bunch of great matches and great wrestling. These are the top three moments.
CM Punk hit MJF with a GTS and Wardlow placed the Dynamite diamond ring in the ring for CM Punk to use on MJF. CM Punk used the diamond ring on MJF to pick up the win. At the end of the match, MJF called out Wardlow. MJF called for the Diamond Ring and Wardlow couldn’t find it. At the end of the match, Wardlow power-bombed Ricky Starks onto a ladder where Starks landed directly on his neck. Wardlow ended up winning the match and winning the opportunity to challenge for the TNT Championship at a future date. AEW: Revolution was a solid show from the very beginning of the Buy-In to the end of the main card. Last night’s show featured the “face of the revolution” ladder match.
