He predominantly learnt his trade as a coach within Liverpool’s academy, overseeing the development of Raheem Sterling and Trent Alexander-Arnold, among others. CITY GROUND — Nottingham Forest are one of only seven teams in England’s top four leagues never to play at the new Wembley, a club let down by play-off capitulation, domestic cup disinterest and a malaise that gave way to chaos. They are in the top six for form since. But Forest are no longer frail and it is Cooper’s doing. Huddersfield Town finished two places and six points above the bottom three last season but Corberan has overseen an extraordinary improvement since. More immediately, they will face Liverpool in an FA Cup quarter-final that will provoke immense nostalgia for a time when both clubs tussled for domestic and European honours.

A Sinani free-kick was one chance but Horvath was able to beat it away and Forest escaped. Cooper, in the technical area, was a fidgeting image of nerves while Corberán was cooler, trusting his team to create something. At the break Forest knew if they held on for the next 45 minutes Liverpool would be next. Huddersfield should have again pushed ahead when Carel Eiting blazed at Ethan Horvath’s goal but hit a post and as Duane Holmes tried to scoop in the rebound Forest’s keeper leaped from the turf to save. Forest are ninth in the Championship, three points from a play-off berth, as Cooper bids to restore them to the top flight for the first time since 1999. After Forest defeated Arsenal and Leicester in previous rounds, Jürgen Klopp’s team are in for a fight before what will be another raucous crowd here.

And Garner provided the latest indicator of his immense potential with a through ball that dissected the Huddersfield defence on Monday. “He can play at the top level and I think he has proven that at Forest. I don’t think he’s one that will go straight into the Man United side but I think there is a first-team role there for him and he will feature next season.” While Manchester United lurch from one disaster to the next, one of their brightest young talents has been enjoying a stellar season in the Championship – and James Garner underlined his quality with a perfect through ball in their FA Cup tie against Huddersfield Town.

Liverpool Must Face FA Cup Giant Killers After Nottingham Forest ... (Sports Illustrated)

Nottingham Forest will host Liverpool in an FA Cup quarter-final later this month after beating Huddersfield Town 2-1 in round five on Monday.

Forest have not lost at home in 2022. The last team to beat them at the City Ground was Huddersfield in the Championship in December. They knew it would be the winners of Forest vs Huddersfield and it looked like that may be the Yorkshire side when Tom Lees nodded in a Danel Sinani corner.

Jota, Salah, van Dijk - How Liverpool could line up against ... (Nottinghamshire Live)

Liverpool will arrive at the City Ground for the FA Cup quarter-final tie in the middle of a testing run of games.

History has not been kind to Liverpool in the FA Cup in recent years. I’m not so sure, especially given there is also Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz available. However, that is not to say Klopp fields a team of kids in the competition. "By the time Forest comes around, will Klopp still go with Salah and co in the team? "An unprecedented quadruple, however far-fetched it may seem, is still on the table and Klopp will be wanting to go as strong as he possibly can in every game between now and the end of the season. "Liverpool’s team selection for the FA Cup is likely to remain a mystery until the very latter stages of the competition, if they get that far.
