With Apple expected to introduce many new products across its various lines this year, consider this just the start of things to come. As usual, we’ll be live blogging the event below and will have plenty of follow-up coverage and reviews of whatever it is that Apple decides to announce. The time has come for Apple’s first product announcement event of 2022.

(Some have argued they were a bit belated, and also that selling products in Russia at all as an international company is difficult anyway given the fluctuations in the ruble.) One of them is that they are seemingly freezing Russian people out from watching this event. The store goes down to allow it to be updated, so there must be something new. Start your Independent Premium subscription today. Apple has taken a number of steps to respond to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, including cutting of sales of its products in the country. As is traditional, Apple has taken its online store down ahead of the event.

Apple Event 2022: M2 MacBook Air, other Macs, iPhone SE and ... (TechRadar)

Apple's March Event is expected to show off a whole host of devices, and maybe some killer new Macs.

What did come up, though, was a passing mention of the Mac Pro, Apple's last mac system still running Intel silicon. Apple usually touts its work in these fields when it details new phones and tablet computers. We may never know what Apple meant by "Peek" (it certainly wasn't the AR glasses we envisioned) but the performance claims for the new Apple Silicon M1 Ultra the company revealed are certainly eye-opening. Friday night lights are coming to Apple TV -- no, not the football kind. Naturally, Apple has to put the M1 Ultra somewhere. The introduction of the more power-efficient and powerful M1 means, potentially, better battery life.

Apple Event predictions: iPad Air, AirPods Pro 2, iPhone, MacBook ... (T3)

The T3 chance-o-meter takes a look at the rumoured launches for Apple's spring event and judges their likelihood.

In the last 18 months, Apple has aggressively adding 5G support to its cellular products – assuming the iPad Air gets 5G at the same event, the only non-5G products will be the cheapest iPad 10.2-inch (probably for cost reasons) and the Apple Watch (probably for battery reasons). Otherwise, I believe the rumours that it will keep the same design and will get a boost to the A15 processor. Likelihood rating: 10/10 I've no doubt that this is coming – some would say it's overdue. It was a terrible idea.) I've gazed into T3's crystal HomePod Mini to see which rumours seem like they'll come to something, and which look more feeble – or perhaps look like they're probably accurate, but now just isn't the time. It's Apple Event time once again!

Apple unveils first budget 5G iPhone (unknown)

At its first product event of the year on Tuesday, Apple unveiled an upgraded iPad Air, a new desktop computer and a powerful new Mac chip.

New M2-Powered MacBooks Could Be Conspicuously Absent At Today's Apple Event (unknown)

Gurman has also since confirmed that a "Mac Studio" machine that is a "smaller ‌Mac Pro‌/more powerful ‌Mac mini‌" is "ready to go" and could launch at the ...

As such, it may be wise to temper expectations that a new Mac notebook is about to be announced by Apple in the coming hours. With a redesigned MacBook Air not expected until later in the year, that leaves a refreshed 13-inch MacBook Pro with a new M2 chip as the other obvious potential reveal during Apple's event. Fast forward to Monday, and YouTuber Luke Miani shared renders of a new Mac allegedly called the "Mac Studio," which he said will be introduced on March 8.

Apple event summary: iPhone SE 2022, new iPad Air, Mac Studio ... (USA TODAY)

Apple introduced several products during its spring event Tuesday, including a budget iPhone and a new iPad, Apple Studio Display and Green iPhone 13.

Apple says it will stream the event from its website, as well as through the Apple TV app. Cook introduced what we all expected: a new iPhone SE. The big takeaway thus far is it will use the A15 processing chip, which is the same as in the iPhone 13. The Mac Studio starts at $1,999, and the Mac Studio Display costs $1,599. The new Mac Studio starts at $1,999 for a model with the M1 Max chip. The iPhone 13 is now available in two new shades of green. "We're making updates to the Apple Store. Check back soon." The new Air will also support 5G. The Mac Studio is a new Mac computer powered by Apple's M1 Ultra chip. Apple said the computer is targeted toward power users who want the optimal performance. Apple unveiled the Mac Studio and Mac Studio Display, a superpowered desktop computer aimed at studio creators. The phone will come in three colors: midnight, starlight and red. It also will support 5G and includes a USB-C port for transferring data.

Apple event: Mac Studio, iPad Air, iPhone SE – here's everything ... (Creative Bloq)

And just like that, the first Apple event of 2022 is over. As ever, many of the rumours turned out to be true. We got the Mac Studio, unofficially the ...

One of the less headline-grabbing announcements of yesterday's event was a new colour for the Magic Mouse 2. It seems there are more than a few iPhone users who are annoyed to see the beautiful new green iPhone 13 revealed mid-cycle – because they've already upgraded to one of the original colours. Our guides to the best iPhone SE deals and iPad deals are your friends. And just like it's 2020 again, people are wondering if the iPad Air has made the 11-inch iPad Pro redundant. As well as 5G support, the iPad Air is also said to be gaining a brand new purple colour (to match the iPad mini 6). What we'd really like to see in 2022 is some consistent naming across the board. One of the surprising announcements at Apple's spring event last year was the addition of a brand new purple colour for the iPhone 12. All of the updates are said to be internal, with a brand new chip and 5G support on the way. Taking cues from the stunning 2021 iMac, the new MacBook Air is said to be coming in a series of delectable pastel hues. The Mac mini has been rumoured to be getting an update for a while, but last-minute leaks are suggesting what we're actually in for is something brand new, called Mac Studio. This will apparently be pitched (and priced) somewhere between the Mac mini and Mac Pro. And if fan-made renders are anything to go by, it could look like – wait for it – a tall Mac mini. But it sounds like the iPhone 14 will be worth waiting for – check out every iPhone 14 rumour and leak we've heard so far. As ever, many of the rumours turned out to be true.

Apple March event recap — iPhone SE 3, Mac Studio, iPad Air 5 ... (Tom's Guide)

Our Apple event live blog is here to bring you all the Apple product news, including the new iPhone SE 3, iPad Air 5 and Mac Studio.

And the new Apple Studio display starts at $1,599. There's three USB-C ports on the back, plus a Thunderbolt port for plugging in a Mac with up to 96W of power. There's a new chip in the Apple family, and it's called M1 Ultra. This includes the Apple website and the Apple TV app through a wide array of Apple devices. While the new Phone SE is tipped to include a number of upgrades, I'm most curious to see how Apple improves the camera. The Mac Studio M1 Max is 2.5 faster than 27-inch iMac Pro and up to 3.4x faster graphics. Right on cue the Apple Store is temporarily down as Apple stocks all the new products expected to be announced today at the Apple event. "Apple is working on two versions of the Mac Studio: the same M1 Max chip as the 2021 MacBook Pro, and an upgraded version of the Apple Silicon chip that is more powerful than the current M1 Max chip." The M2 chip could appear in a number of devices, including a new Mac mini 2022, entry-level MacBook Pro 2022 and more. The fact that Apple subsequently announced its Peek Performance event for that exact day gives a lot of credibility to the details in Gurman's report. The most likely new entry in Apple's iPad range is the iPad Air 5. For power users, Apple has announced the new Mac Studio computer with a blazing M1 Ultra chip that basically gives you two chips in one.

What the hell just happened at the Apple Event? iPad and Mac ... (T3)

New iPhone SE: Same design, updated with 5G, A15 processor, tougher glass. $429/£419/AU$719. Pre-order Friday, out March 18th. New iPad Air: Same design, ...

The iPad Pro offers some extras – a slightly brighter screen, 120Hz support and more storage – but I wouldn't have been surprised at all if Apple had just killed it off today, since the iPad Air is now so close to it. As is the Studio Display. Mac Studio includes M1 Max and M1 Ultra – it looks like a very tall Mac mini, with some ports on the front. And as mentioned, I thought is would be madness for Apple to put the M1 in the iPad Air, because then it would stamp all over the iPad Pro 11-inch. It might be Apple will use pretty much the same design as the M1, but will use the efficiency of the M2's 4nm construction to increase the frequency of the chip. Let's look at a new update to the rumour that the iPad Air will include the M1 chip. But now the sudden talk of the Mac Studio has me wondering whether that will be the Mac reveal, and M2 will have to wait. 2) The thing I'd like to see most of all is not, in fact, a new product at all. Another rumour that's really exploded in the last week is that Apple is planning a new Apple Studio display to pair with its latest Mac (and, one assumes, MacBook Pros and so on). But maybe Apple can use a larger enclosure to make it a little cheaper and easier to cool the new chips, or maybe even to improve performance compared to the MacBook Pros. It might even function a bit like a HomePod, with Siri built in – the HomePod Mini uses an Apple A-series chip to run its software side. What if you took the small size of the Mac Mini, and put the ridiculously powerful M1 Pro and M1 Max chips from the MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch (2021) in it? but inside, you get either the M1 Max chip or the ridiculous new M1 Ultra, which we'll come to in a second.
