Wolves v Leeds -- wolves vs leeds united Wolves v Leeds - wolves vs leeds united

Where Leeds United are tipped to finish in 21/22 Premier League table compared to Newcastle United, Burnley, Everton and Watford (unknown)

Jesse Marsch says all the credit for Leeds United's sensational 3-2 win at Wolves should go to the players for the character they showed.

We got a bit lucky that they picked up a red card but I think it was deserved at the same time and they you saw the quality of men with no subs left after the 50th minute with injuries but guys dug in and pushed the game to stay tough." It was easy after three injuries and a late goal in the half to be down 2-0 to be thinking it was not our day and what do we do know but I tried to encourage them if we had a good start to the (half) and we could find a goal, momentum would change." It was not just the fact Leeds were 2-0 down at half-time against Wolverhampton Wanderers or even the fact they were defending appallingly, but also that they had already lost Patrick Bamford, Diego Llorente and Mateusz Klich to injury, and Illan Meslier would go off early in the second half.Marsch called it one of the best results he had ever seen.Helped by a second yellow card for Raul Jimenez for the challenge which took Meslier off, Leeds scored twice in quick succession to level the scores, then added a stoppage-time equaliser scored by Luke Ayling to move seven points clear of the Premier League relegation zone.It came on the back of Sunday's 2-1 victory against Norwich City despite the Canaries equalising in stoppage time."

Jesse Marsch states Leeds are taking Raphinha ‘day by day’ amid Brazil call-up (unknown)

Jesse Marsch admits he risks upsetting Raphinha by keeping the forward at Leeds United after Brazil named the winger in their March squad.

“I know he’s really eager to go with the national team, as he should be. So, yeah, we’ll have to evaluate the situation with him. He is yet to play in a losing side, either, with four wins thus far.

Jamie Carragher's verdict on Raul Jimenez red card as Leeds take advantage (unknown)

But the game changed on the hour mark when Raul Jimenez was shown his second yellow card for a late challenge on Illan Meslier, who also had to be substituted. But the game changed on the hour mark when Raul Jimenez was shown his second yellow card for a late challenge on Illan Meslier, who also had to be substituted. The red card had a massive impact on the result, but they still had to go and score three goals. And there was still time for the Whites to grab a dramatic late winner. However, it did prove to be a costly night on the injury front as the Whites were forced to make three early substitutions when Patrick Bamford, Diego Llorente and Mateusz Klich all limped off before half-time. Leeds United came from behind to secure a dramatic late win at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday night.

Days of Ayling • The Square Ball (unknown)

As the scrum of celebrating players dispersed, Ayling stayed locked in an embrace with Stuart Dallas that was more than a well done for scoring a big goal. It ...

But we do, and all season we have, and maybe one of the mistakes of this campaign has been to think all this came easy. It was Ayling’s cross for Bamford to complete the 3-2 comeback win against Millwall at Elland Road. As Leeds dragged themselves back into title form, Ayling scored the only goal to beat his old club Bristol City, opened scoring in the first five minutes against Hull and Huddersfield. Pablo Hernandez’s all-time goal at Swansea started when Ayling got the ball on the edge of our six yard box, and ran. The board showing eight minutes of stoppage time was being held up as Harrison lined up a free-kick from wide for what became the winner. Or the hurt of watching Stuart Dallas and Luke Ayling in recent weeks, even for Wolves’ opening goal in this game, and thinking, we’re going to have to move on soon. The closing stages of the 5-4 win at Birmingham were like Ayling’s personal battle with the world. Just after Bamford departed, Wolves tore United’s defence apart with a sucker punch goal, and as injuries piled up as stoppage time and Leeds looked bewildered and desperate for the break — the first half was 56 minutes long — Wolves got another goal from a smart free-kick. But Wolves, a stern and self-assured team with quality players and European ambitions, were being pressed into giving up mistakes and chances during the 23 minutes Leeds were at their nearest imitation of full strength. But Leeds United’s return to the top has been punctuated by days of Ayling dragging us there. The sending off seemed to panic Leeds first. It was a hug between friends, going back years, a private moment in a public place, deep and true, turning to delight when Ayling realised Kalvin Phillips was there with them. The circumstances of this game defy belief. Kalvin Phillips was already there, a nineteen year old struggling to emulate Lewis Cook or Ronaldo Vieira. Luke Ayling joined a year later in summer 2016.

They got their lifeline on 63 minutes as Koch's fine pass played Luke Ayling in and the skipper controlled the ball well before hitting his angled shot against the post. The rebound came back out towards him, but Romain Saiss got there first and sent the ball towards his own goal. Wolves lost key midfielder Ruben Neves, but before the break Leeds had lost Patrick Bamford, Diego Llorente and Mateusz Klich, the latter to a head injury.

Wolves 2-3 Leeds United (unknown)

Stunning comeback secures the victory. Premier League. Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 (Jonny 26', Trincao 45+11'). Leeds United 3 (Harrison 63', Rodrigo 66 ...

Harrison had played a ball deep into the penalty area and from that, Ayling looked to head back across goal. After the hour mark, Luke Ayling was brilliantly played into the box on the wing, and he controlled well, before firing a shot against the post. In what had been a lengthy first 45 minutes, Wolves would get a second before the interval, scoring in the 11th minute of added on time. A quick break down the wing found the recently introduced Trincao in space and he pulled the ball back for Jonny to fire into the bottom corner of the goal. Jack Harrison won a big header on the half-way line which played in Dan James, allowing the winger to sprint forward and cross into the box where Rodrigo volleyed narrowly wide at the near post. Adam Forshaw tracked back brilliantly and put in a great challenge on Daniel Podence to deny the striker a clear chance on goal at close range.

Kaiser Chiefs sum up Leeds United's fans' feelings on Bielsa's exit (unknown)

Marcelo Bielsa left Leeds United at the end of February and many fans were sad to see him go.

We planned that show as a celebration of Leeds United and our album was going to be out - so it felt like a moment of celebration. It saw football icon, and former Whites star, Chris Kamara introduced Kaiser Chiefs to the stage. I think Leeds will be fine and I think it would have been fine anyways. There’s a huge affinity between Kaiser Chiefs and their football club. I think it is sad because he’s a real iconic person and made Leeds United a special club. A move that brought great distress to many of the club’s supporters with Jesse Marsch taking charge.

Football Insider has been told that Leeds United are "confident" of agreeing a new contract with Luke Ayling to replace his deal expiring next year.

Leeds player ‘available’ for £21m, Arsenal ‘identify’ Spurs player as summer target (unknown)

Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch believes the injury that forced Patrick Bamford off during the win over Wolves is not a serious one.

Meslier was replaced by first-team debutant Kristoffer Klaesson who made a pair of huge saves late in the game.“Illan picked up a bit of a hip contusion, we’ll see what that looks like but I don’t think it looks too bad,” said Marsch, who revealed that Kalvin Phillips was never going to play any part despite being included among the subs.Joe Gelhardt was also on the bench despite a back injury that has stopped him from training all week.“Kalvin was never going to play,” said Marsch.“He’s not ready to be in the match. The striker recently returned from a torn plantar fascia and it appeared to be his foot that was the problem at Molineux. Bamford was in tears on the bench and needed to be consoled by captain Liam Cooper, but Marsch said that was the disappointment at having to come off the pitch.“Patrick Bamford we believe is not too bad,” said the American.“His plantar fasciitis has just been sensitive as he’s tried to get himself back. The plan was to have him play against Manchester United with the 23s, but he had a back spasm and didn’t train. Marsch says the centre-half will likely remain at Thorp Arch instead of joining up with the Spanish national team during the international break.Mateusz Klich was the third Leeds man to come off before the break, a clash of heads with Robin Koch leaving the midfielder concussed and sporting a huge swelling on his cheekbone.“Klich had a concussion but seems to be okay,” said Marsch.Goalkeeper Illan Meslier limped off five minutes into the second half having been clattered by Raul Jimenez, who earned his second yellow card for the challenge. Marsch gave an injury update on a quartet of Whites, all of whom had to come off in the madcap 3-2 victory that saw Leeds come from two goals down.Bamford was the first to depart, limping off in agony and clear distress after just 23 minutes. The reaction can look like it’s a bad one, I think he was just really disappointed to come off.”Diego Llorente also made his exit during the first half, feeling a back spasm that has been troubling him recently.

Wolves ratings vs Leeds United after Jimenez shocker proves costly (unknown)

Leeds United completed a comeback to beat Wolves 3-2 at Molineux after Raul Jimenez's controversial red card.

Jimenez’s first red card of the season was reckless, his second was incredibly harsh. Started the game really well and could have added to his first goal in almost two years with another on the stroke of half-time. Boly was very good in the first half and didn’t give Leeds’ attackers a sniff. Moutinho had control of the game for 60 minutes and looked a class above. The French starlet was very good going forward, but he wasted one final chance to put Leeds under pressure by miscuing his cross. Saiss must take his share of the blame for Leeds’ equaliser after a hopeless attempted clearance put his team in trouble. Sa was given very little protection in the second half as Leeds laid siege on his goal. Trincao has his critics, but the on-loan Barcelona man was irresistible in the first half. Rodrigo squandered the first of two big chances for Leeds in the opening 11 minutes. It was actually an injury to Neves which swung the game in Wolves’ favour. A melee inside Wolves’ box finished with Harrison firing home from close range in the 63rd minute. Jack Harrison and Rodrigo duly took their chances to level the contest, before Luke Ayling netted a stoppage time winner.

'Leadership council' shows agenda in Wolves chaos (unknown)

Jesse Marsch didn't create the leadership group at Leeds United, it pre-dated him, he's just given it a name.

They may not yet have mastered his tactics and the manner of these victories has been far from comfortable, yet in chaos this team and its leaders have always found a way to survive. The worry for Leeds was that in the build up to the goal Dallas was poleaxed by Moutinho, who somehow escaped punishment, and the Ulsterman was in visible pain. A free-kick wasn't cleared, Struijk got a touch and Ayling, who else, drilled it in to send the away end wild and Leeds' subs racing across the pitch. Cooper was the obvious first appointee to the council as the man holding the armband and including Phillips, who has admitted on a number of occasions that he's not one of the big voices in the changing room, is a smart move, clearly designed to make him feel every bit as influential as he should be, as an England regular and top Premier League operator. The quality has not always shown, but in Leeds' time of need, his desire is evident. It was too bitter a blow for Bamford to take, tears streaking his face on the bench as Cooper, ever the leader, put an arm around him.

Jesse Marsch feels ‘complete striker’ Patrick Bamford can help him at Leeds (unknown)

Jesse Marsch has showered Patrick Bamford with praise, dubbing the Leeds United star a 'complete' striker for all that he offers ahead of facing Wolves.

But I like the way that he can see the game, fit into the game, make himself available, and combine. He’s fast, he’s good with both feet, he can finish [and] he’s good in the air. Yet it is also everything else that Bamford offers in the centre-forward role that Leeds have missed this season.

At 2-0 down, when all still felt lost in the second half, Phillips was the advisor. Phillips brought Liam Cooper and Patrick Bamford alongside him too as they protested to the fourth official while Stuart Dallas lay prone on the floor following that hefty tackle from Joao Moutinho. The England international was heading, kicking, celebrating and arguing anything he could from the touchline throughout the evening. Cooper would sit there with his arm over Bamford’s shoulder as the tears welled in his eyes on later shots from the cameras. Bamford could not hold back his emotions or tears in the dugout as he took his seat. Unusually, a few balls came out and Illan Meslier and Joe Gelhardt had a mess around in one of the penalty boxes.
