The consensus is that building will make a return next week after the first portion of the new season ends, with leakers and dataminers uncovering hints within the game’s code that suggests the mechanic could be back seven to nine days from Season 2’s launch. The removal of the building function obviously drastically changes the way Fortnite is played, and though it has been replaced somewhat with the game’s new defensive over-shield, even seasoned players are having to get to grips with it all over again. The most important one is the Overshield, which serves as a defensive measure for players in lieu of building, and gives the player 50 Health overtime throughout the match if no damage is dealt to them. Building is completely gone for the time being, replaced instead with a number of new movement mechanics which are sure to change the way Fortnite handles dramatically.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 Battle Pass goes all-Marvel (unknown)

The Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 Battle Pass is now revealed with at least two Marvel skins - Doctor Strange and Spider-Man villain The Prowler.

Mary Jane Watson was recently leaked, despite Zendaya’s movie MJ being in the game already. Given that Miles himself still isn’t in Fortnite, Prowler’s an odd choice for such a prominent position. The Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 Battle Pass is revealed along with a brand new season for one of the best battle royale games on PC, and developer Epic appears to be once again leaning heavily on its Marvel Comics collaboration – as it includes both Doctor Strange and Spider-Man villain The Prowler.

In addition to the changes to the game and island, the new season’s battle pass also adds a handful of unlockable characters for those who purchase it. Other changes include a combination of faster sprinting and climbing that makes for parkour-like movement, the addition of blimps to explore and tanks to drive, as well as a handful of new guns. The season makes a few big changes to the game.

The bundle - which features over 120 items worth over £1800 ($2500) - has been bagged by over 172,000 people. Retail store purchases of in-game cosmetics and V-Bucks cards will also be included if they are redeemed in-game during this window. "This includes V-Buck packs, Fortnite Crew, gifted Battle Passes, and cosmetic packs such as the Voidlander Pack sold for real money. Xbox has also chipped in by waiving its standard platform fees, meaning even more money going to humanitarian relief charities.

All three have stopped selling games and consoles in Russia over the last few weeks, but donating to relief causes will have a more tangible impact on the people of Ukraine. All of the money Epic takes in from those sales is going to humanitarian causes following the invasion by Russia. Retail V-Bucks cards redeemed during that time will be rolled into the donations too. It’s nice to see Microsoft give the cut of Fortnite revenue it receives until April 3 to causes like UNICEF and the UN Refugee Agency too.

Epic adds Fortnite parkour but vaults Web-Shooters (PCGamesN)

Epic Games has added Fortnite parkour and climbing into the battle royale, but Web-Shooters are vaulted - so the Spider-Man dream is gone.

However, the reaction to the removal of the Web-Shooters is a little more impassioned. It certainly doesn’t appear ambiguous, as a player character is clearly climbing up the ledge – something that’ll make fans of Lara Croft and Nathan Drake very happy. Rival games such as Apex Legends and even PUBG Battlegrounds feature parkour climbing already, so it’s odd that Fortnite still hasn’t.

I know sometimes queue times in situations like this can jump around, but from what I’ve seen, you essentially have to sit and wait for every minute, which is not ideal if you wanted to play the game early this weekend. I played a few games, logged out, realized I wanted to go back and check something and now bam, 90 minute queue times have begun. Despite servers going live this morning, players are finding some of the longest queue times they’ve ever seen for Fortnite, and Epic has issued a message about what’s going on.

Fortnite has turned off building in its default mode (PC Gamer)

Building may seem like a core part of Fortnite, as inseparable from its identity as cross-promotions, but it's a turn-off for a lot of players.

And Fortnite's done quite well out of events that remove the option to shoot people, and of course out of transforming itself into a battle royale in the first place, so there's certainly a precedent for successful reinvention. New weapons have been added, a combat SMG and a striker burst rifle, and 10 of the weapons from Chapter 3 Season 1 return, along with several unvaulted guns. A "no-build mode" has been suggested plenty of times, and as part of Chapter 3 Season 2, Fortnite has one—for now at least.

How to tactical sprint in 'Fortnite' now that building has been removed (Inverse)

'Fortnite' Season 2 began March 20, leaving many fans of Battle Royale asking some pretty big questions. Here's the scoop on tactical sprint and building.

Just prior to the launch of the new season, trusted leaker HYPEX suggested building would only be removed for the next week, with others envisioning a restricted play period of around 10 days. Epic has made a big statement by removing building from Fortnite at the start of Chapter 2, but players should know this change isn’t as meta-shattering as it initially sounds. That emphasis on high-speed traversal, however, unlocks the opportunity for players to leverage tactical sprint to cross large chasms that couldn’t be scaled in the past. In the event you don’t see one, go to your options menu and map the sprint action to whatever you like. While it’s popular to turn on auto sprint to let one’s characters run all the time, tactical sprint offers a new top threshold for how quickly one can escape danger. One of the most perplexing new features of Fortnite Season 2 is the addition of a tactical sprint mechanic.
