The invasion of Ukraine by Putin was a dark day for world peace. This fund is open to the public and to organisations and works with people seeking sanctuary in Wales. We are proud to donate to the fund and to the Community Foundation Wales’ initiative to support people from Ukraine arriving in Wales and to support other refugees and asylum seekers in Wales. We have seen an overwhelming response from people in Wales as they have signed up in their thousands to the UK Government’s Homes for Ukraine scheme to act as a potential sponsor for someone fleeing the war and to open their homes to them.

Rubin Colwill strike earns Wales a draw in friendly clash with Czech ... (WalesOnline)

Rubin Colwill struck his first international goal as Wales extended their unbeaten home record to 18 matches with a 1-1 draw against Czech Republic.

And after Bale was twice denied by Tomas Vaclik late on, the referee's whistle ended a contest where a 12,912-strong crowd raised vital funds for those in Ukraine. It was no less than the visitors deserved, although they were made to pay for some shoddy defending just two minutes later as Johnson evaded the attention of two defenders before cutting back to Colwill who fired into the far corner. Jan Sykora's effort hit the post shortly after the restart, with Ondrej Lingr's follow-up effort being disallowed for offside. Chances were at a premium early on, although Johnson asked questions of the Czech Republic defence with his pace. But they fell behind just after the half hour mark as Jaroslav Zeleny's cross landed at the feet of West Ham star Soucek who rifled beyond Hennessey. But Colwill - on his home ground - equalised just moments later after fine play from the impressive Brennan Johnson.

Onrej Lingr was first to Jaroslav Zeleny’s cross and an alert Soucek smacked the loose ball home from near to the penalty spot. At full time Bale was quick to push the goalkeeper in front of the Canton Stand to ensure he basked in his achievement. Johnson was electric down the right flank and twice went close to nudging Wales in front in the second half. Aaron Ramsey was omitted from the squad altogether and Ben Davies was absent after returning to Tottenham as a precaution. He was never going to miss Hennessey’s special occasion. Brennan Johnson was particularly lively and came close to notching a winner.

West Wales healthcare under 'unprecedented' pressure (Cambrian News)

HEALTH chiefs have said that hospitals and GP surgeries across west Wales have been under an 'unprecedented amount of pressure' today.

Many community pharmacies can also provide walk-in, common ailment or triage and treat services without an appointment. “If you feel that this is an option that you could consider, please speak to the ward manager or your social worker to explore further and see what support is available to you. The health board added: “If you have a relative or loved one in hospital who is well enough to go home, but is waiting to be discharged with homecare and community health support, you may be able to help them to get home more quickly if you and your family are in a position to support them at home. “If your relative is waiting for a formal package of care, you may be able to offer support and care on a short term, temporary arrangement or you might want to consider whether your loved one could be supported in a temporary residential or nursing care setting. If you are unwell and unsure what to do, you can visit the online symptom checker or call NHS 111 if you are unsure what help you need. The health board’s Director of Operations, Andrew Carruthers, said: “We are dealing with a combination of high numbers of attendances, particularly in our emergency departments and challenges in health professional staffing due to Covid-19.

Temperature to drop in North Wales tonight and tomorrow (North Wales Chronicle)

Strong winds can result in a severe and debilitating wind chill many degrees below the actual temperature. This effect will be enhanced in rain or wet snow.

“Although there’s still some uncertainty on the exact location of snow showers, the trend is for a mix of sleet and snow to fall as a cold front moves south through on Wednesday, before clearing southern areas on Thursday morning, with the main areas at risk of snowfall being higher ground in the north and east. Some accumulations may be expected over higher ground, but any slight accumulations at lower levels are unlikely to hang around for too long. Strong winds can result in a severe and debilitating wind chill many degrees below the actual temperature. The Met Office describes this as: "Wind significantly lowers the ‘feels-like’ temperature relative to the actual temperature, with even moderate winds significantly adding to the chilling effect. Without protection, prolonged exposure could result in frost nip or frostbite on exposed parts of the body and/or hypothermia." A SPELL of unsettled weather is on the way for much of the country this week, with rain showers and a possible mix of sleet and snow, mainly on high ground in the north.

I had a number of people contacting me on Friday morning; thousands of people trying to travel back to north Wales after the game on Thursday night. Minister Lesley Griffiths MS replied, “I absolutely agree with you that it was a very difficult journey yesterday for you and for many other people and I have spoken to other Members who were on that train. “I listened to Transport for Wales officers in the committee a fortnight ago saying, ‘Yes, it’s challenging, but things are improving.’ Do you know what? Some of them did miss a funeral; someone was concerned about the future of their employment because they were late for their shift. “In desperation, my colleague Llyr Gruffydd and I took to Twitter, copying in the Deputy Minister and hour by hour went past with nothing. I was on a train yesterday morning, so it could have been me. So, it’s not your fault, Trefnydd, and I’m not getting annoyed with you, but I do want a statement from Lee Waters and I will pursue, and I shall ask and ask again: the people of Wales, passengers even from England they deserve a reason as to what happened yesterday and I jolly well hope he launches a thorough investigation.” So, I’m absolutely not taking anything away, but we have to work through the process and we have to find out what went wrong. Now I think that it was such a serious issue yesterday that the Deputy Minister should have come forward this morning to actually make a statement. Finally able to ask, “It’s in relation to the severe and chaotic delays that were encountered by hundreds of passengers yesterday due to a rail operational incident at Abergavenny. Three trains, several carriages, and hundreds of passengers left stranded on these trains in warm weather conditions with no ventilation. “Initial investigations have shown it was due to an unexpected operational matter, and they are working around it. The first train—we were allowed on the platform for a couple of hours.
