Those who pay their council tax via direct debit will start to receive their rebate payment from the end of April.

The council will be writing to these households and inviting them to provide their bank details so that the energy rebate can be paid to them. In February, the Government announced that all households in England whose primary residence is in council tax bands A to D are entitled to a one-off council tax energy rebate payment of £150. The council will be using the bank details of those who are set-up to pay their council tax by direct debit to pay the rebate money into their accounts.

As the cost of living rises, so does the price of council tax. But there is a £150 rebate to help millions of households deal with the rising cost.

Your council should be in contact with you if you do not pay your council tax via direct debit but are eligible for the rebate. If you don’t pay council tax by direct debit, your local council should be in touch with you to arrange the payment. If you already pay your council tax to your local authority via direct debit, then the one-off payment of £150 will automatically be credited to your account.

The £150 council tax rebate is being paid to households in bands A to D in an attempt to combat the effects of the cost of living crisis.
