English Defence League co-founder says he faces deportation after flying to Cancun for Easter holiday.

“I’ve never caused a problem, landed for what is clearly a family holiday, and I’ve been arrested, detained and separated from my kids.” Robinson tells the camera: “I have been arrested, separated from my kids and now I’m being deported as a matter of national security” as he shows what he says is a security holding cell. In the footage, posted on his Telegram account, the 39-year-old says he flew to Mexico with his three children for an Easter holiday but was detained at the airport.

Nick Lowles, CEO of Hope Not Hate, the UK’s leading antifascism and antiracism campaign group, said, “Tommy Robinson was apparently detained in Mexico after trying to go on holiday. Just last week, Robinson failed to attend court regarding the ongoing investigation into his bankruptcy. The video emerged the week after he failed to attend a high court hearing where he was to be questioned about his finances after losing a libel case.

The EDL founder was filmed shouting at officers in Manchester Airport, where he'd arrived after allegedly being kicked out of Mexico.

Robinson previously posted clips in which he claimed Mexican police had refused to tell him why he was being detained, telling the camera: ‘I’ve never broken a law here. In a later post he appeared to be sat elsewhere in the airport while talking to the camera. In a third clip, Robinson asks why he had been detained, to which the officer says: ‘Because I was convinced you had breached security – that’s why.’
