Spain has long been the top destination for British holidaymakers. The new rules apply to over-12s, with those aged under 12 able to travel without any proof of vaccination or negative Covid-19 test. The Spanish government has announced that it has relaxed its entry requirements for visitors, as of Wednesday 6 April.

The new entry rules will also apply for Brits heading to the Canaries and Balearics. (In more good news, the Canaries recently axed their local Covid rules which includes the bringing back of dancing in clubs). Until now, anyone aged 12 or over could only enter Spain if they were fully vaccinated against Covid, or had proof of Covid recovery within the six months prior to travel.

This can be completed via Spain Travel Health (SpTH). Children under 12 years old are exempt when travelling with an adult. It applies to travellers over the age of 12 and means holidaymakers can enter with a certificate of vaccination; or proof of a negative test; or proof of recovery.

The certificate will be valid for 180 days after the date of the first positive diagnostic test result. Recovery certificates can be issued at least 11 days after the first PCR test or lateral flow test with a positive result. The holiday hotspot, which is easily accessible in just two hours from London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports, will now require those entering Spain to be fully vaccinated, hold a negative test result as per certain requirements, or a recovery from Covid-19 certificate.
