"Remembering The Duke of Edinburgh today, one year since his passing," it read. She marked 70 years on the throne in February. Prince Philip, the occasionally irascible but always stalwart husband of Queen Elizabeth, died April 9, 2021, at age 99.

The Patriarchs – An Elegy shared via royal social media accounts on first anniversary of Duke of Edinburgh's death.

It was marked by hundreds of tributes from world leaders and dignitaries, as well as the charities he supported. Philip’s funeral at Saint George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle was attended by just 30 mourners due to Covid restrictions. Philip died in his sleep at his Windsor Castle home on 9 April 2021.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, along with their grandchildren Prince Harry, Peter Phillips, Zara Phillips, Prince William, and Prince Harry, took in a 1939 Merryweather Fire Engine at the Sandringham Museum.

At the recent service of thanksgiving for Philip’s life, Dean of Windsor the Right Rev David Conner paid tribute to his abilities and also highlighted his shortcomings – just as the duke would have wanted.
