Under normal circumstances, identifying the brains behind an anonymous viral social media account would be of minor importance — but there’s a particular urgency and public interest to unmasking Libs of TikTok. In addition to a recent interview on Tucker Carlson Tonight, the account’s creator has appeared multiple times on Fox News, which routinely sources stories from videos and photos shared to Libs of TikTok accounts. The username discovery allowed Daily Dot reporter Claire Goforth to find a link between Libs of TikTok and a Brooklyn-based realtor, dropping information that any savvy internet user could piece together to construct a probable doxxing — but now that Lorenz is on the beat? Lorenz is disliked so much by right-wingers that they seemingly ignored the Daily Dot’s relatively thorough investigation into the identity of Libs of TikTok’s creator on April 18 — or that a software developer was able to track all usernames previously associated with the Libs of TikTok Twitter account earlier this month.

Donald Trump Jr. Calls Taylor Lorenz 'Psycho' Over Libs of TikTok ... (Newsweek)

"Wasn't this psycho on tv 2 weeks ago actually crying about the exact type of behavior that seems to be her exact business model," Donald Trump Jr. tweeted.

The Libs of TikTok account on Twitter retweeted Trump's post. Gay/trans ppl targeted by the acct have had their lives destroyed, but the *point* of the story is actually a nuanced look at radicalization & how the right wing outrage cycle functions. Lorenz reported that Raichik was working as a real estate agent in Brooklyn when she created the account. Trump is one of many conservatives who have expressed outrage over Lorenz's piece published by the Washington Post, with many accusing her of being guilty of harassment herself in her efforts to identify the previously anonymous user. but we know that won't happen," Trump tweeted. If only she tried to report on real bad actors rather than a random personalities on social...

Taylor Lorenz Exposes Herself While Trying to Expose Libs of Tik Tok (OutKick)

Washington Post “journalist” Taylor Lorenz doxxed the creator of the popular “Libs of Tik Tok” Twitter account in a hit piece on Tuesday. Lorenz says the.

Libs of Tik Tok had the nerve to share angry liberals owning themselves. In addition to her creepy “reporting” tactics, Taylor Lorenz is one of the biggest hypocrites on the Twitter app. Taking down Libs of Tik Tok and anyone else who pokes fun at the woke is Lorenz’s mission. So she reported for duty and began trying to intimidate, or in her words “expose,” the woman behind the Libs of Tik Tok mask. To write the hit piece, Lorenz practiced harassment, not journalism. Lorenz doxxed the creator for just one reason: she wants to destroy her.

I feel like there are so many small stories that are so important that aren’t getting out — and that’s what I’m here for,” she continued. Libs of TikTok often shares conservative opinions and opposes left-wing, liberal views. @LibsofTikTok has become a powerful cross-platform social media influencer, spreading anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment and fuelling the right wing media’s outrage machine.

WaPo appears to make false claim in defending Taylor Lorenz (The Spectator USA)

The Washington Post responded to criticism of a Taylor Lorenz article 'exposing' the creator of the viral Twitter account, Libs of TikTok.

“[Libs of Tik Tok], in her management of the Libs of TikTok Twitter account and in media interviews, has had significant impact on public discourse and her identity had become public knowledge on social media. The Post reporter even showed up to the home of the account owner’s relatives and harassed a random Instagram user with a similar name, asserting that she was going to be “implicated as starting a hate campaign against LGBTQ people.” The Post reporter even showed up to the home of the account owner's relatives and harassed a random Instagram user with a...

Greenwald also lashed out at Lorenz on Twitter after her story was published Tuesday, claiming she “badgered” Raichik’s relatives by coming to their home to confirm Raichik’s identity. Lorenz wrote in her story that a woman at an address linked to Raichik’s name in Los Angeles did not identify herself, and said a tweet from Greenwald claiming she visited Raichik’s family’s home allowed her to confirm she had the correct house. The account’s popularity comes as GOP-led state legislatures across the country have sought to pass bills curtailing discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity in schools, and as conservative pundits like Ingraham claim public schools are serving as “ grooming centers.”

The more people who get wise to the fact that the left is off the radar, the better. Ridicule is the best way of taking on those with cultural power and hopefully the account bounces back. Somehow I doubt this will be the end of Libs of TikTok, who seems to have come back fighting. A curator compiles a narrative for those who don’t have the time or filtering skills to do so, and people who do this effectively can be significant players in real-world politics. In this context, the offence committed by Libs of TikTok becomes clearer. The videos that appear on “LibsofTikTok” represent the leftiest of the left, in a sexual identity sense if not necessarily in an economic sense.

The Washington Post came out in support of internet culture beat reporter Taylor Lorenz over the "doxxing" controversy surrounding "Libs of TikTok."
