Leicester City vs Roma live: latest score and updates from Europa ... (Telegraph.co.uk)

Leicester have a job to with a stubborn Roma side. No changes at half time for either team, and the first action of the half is a Roma throw-in.

Allbrighton passes to Vardy, and seeks it on the edge of the box, but it only makes it out to a corner. Jose Mourinho not only returns to English soil for the first time since his ignominious exit from Tottenham last April, but reunites with a former colleague: Mourinho invited Brendan Rogers to coach Chelsea's Youth Academy in 2004, later promoting him to reserve team manager. Abraham pushes the ball out to safety, but Leicester have their blood up. Albrighton goes for the box, but Smalling gets in the way, redirecting the ball. Maddison sends it into the melee, and whilst it doesn't find the target, a great shot from Leicester's goes into the box and Justin and Smalling clash heads going for the ball. Leicester continue to trouble the Roma defence, before the visitors get a handle on possession, looking to take out some of Leicester's ferocity. Leicester regain possession however, with Dewsbury-Hall trying to dribbling into the penalty area, but Roma have locked down, making things very difficult for Leicester's hopes of progressing further. Maddison whips it in quickly, but no one can catch it to poke it into goal. Albrighton has the ball now, and sends it into the box for Lookman, whose advance puts Roma under pressure and it's out for a corner. Albrighton on the edge of the box takes a shot but it deflects off for a corner. Albrighton takes, and Lookman tries to send it in with a header, but it goes too high. Again, Leicester have come up all guns blazing, but Roma are a tough team to work down.

Leicester vs Roma: injury news and predicted XI (Foxes of Leicester)

Leicester City take on Roma in the first leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League semi-final today at the King Power Stadium.

I believe Lookman will get the starting left wing position over Harvey Barnes as the academy graduate has been inconsistent in recent fixtures. While I certainly believe that Maddison is a far greater threat playing in the centre of the midfield rather than out wide, Rodgers has recently played Madders in that position. Of those three players unavailable, only two are outfield with Eldin Jakupovic out, a stark contrast to the scenes at Filbert Way earlier in the campaign where injuries ravaged the King Power side.

79' - IS AWKWARD FOR RUI PATRICIO! Tielemans wins the ball for Leicester in a dangerous area, Iheanacho takes control as he gets his shot away from 25 yards. It's a brilliantly worked goal, too, as Zalewski drives his side forward with a menacing run before carving inside and picking the run of Pellegrini in behind the Leicester defence with a perfectly-weighted through ball. Roma spent a lot of the match camped in their own half and the former Manchester United defender was key to absorbing Leicester's pressure. That may well play into Leicester's hands, as they can be dangerous on the break and will be confident of scoring at least once in Rome. 15' - GOAL! Europa Conference League Match Report: Leicester City 1 - 1 Roma (Fosse Posse)

City can't make territorial dominance pay because, you know, Mourinho.

The draw gives us one foot in the Europa Conference League final...and one foot out of it. Tammy Abraham took on three City defenders and did well to hold up the ball in the Foxes’ box. Barnes was alone behind the defence and had ages to pick out a pass, spotting Lookman’s run with a cross. Harvey Barnes and Kelechi Iheanacho came on for Vardy and Albrighton, with Lookman switching to the right flank and Barnes manning the left. James Justin on— BBC Sport Leicester (@BBCRLSport) #LCFC's 1-1 draw with AS Roma: "We showed in the last round against PSV that we could dig in deep and get the victory. City continued to have approximately all of the possession but could do nothing against the stacked cohorts of the Roman defence. Wingback Nicola Zalewski picked up the ball in his own half and was able to carry it the length of the pitch with Albrighton trailing in his wake. You could say that the scoreline was misleading, but given that I Giallorossi are managed by Jose Mourinho, the match was proceeding very much according to the visitor’s script. Castagne was unable to carry on after having his neck grabbed in the box. That was it for the first half. None of them produced a clear-cut chance, but we did see Castagne go wide with a header from a tight angle and a couple of blocked efforts from Maddison. It wasn’t strictly one-way traffic, as Roma looked threatening breaking down the City left, but for a quarter-hour Leicester were well on top. Leicester City were unable to separate themselves from a dire A.S. Roma side in the home leg of their historic Europa Conference League semi-final tie.

He could not provide a late spark for City, and he gave up the ball a few times. Kelechi Iheanacho: He had a role to play in the equaliser by getting himself into the right position, but he needed a good 10 minutes to get into the game properly. While his first-half efforts were kept out by blocks and saves, there was a real determination to force the ball into the net for the equaliser. But he was so busy and so keen to get involved that there were plenty of good moments too, particularly the chances he created for Lookman in the first half. Occasionally his attempted defence-splitting balls were intercepted, a danger when he ventured from his post, but otherwise, he spread the ball well and quickly, while he covered extremely well when others were caught out of position. For the time he was on the pitch, he did not put a foot wrong.

Leicester's second-half goal cancelled out Lorenzo Pellegrini's opener to seal a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Europa Conference League semi-final.

“The winner of the Roma final has to win the Albanian final,” Mourinho said, referring to the competition’s final next month in Tirana. “For us it makes a difference to play at home with 70,000 [fans].” Barnes sent a cross into the six-yard box and Lookman was there to help it in with some help from Mancini. This stadium was now rocking but Rodgers was a picture of calm, sipping a bottle of water. We’re in with a fantastic chance to get to the final.” Mourinho is adamant Roma’s home advantage for the “final date” will help to propel them to the final and Rodgers was effusive in his praise of his youthful team’s performance, with James Maddison, Wesley Fofana and Lookman lively on Jamie Vardy’s return to the starting lineup. Chances had been at a premium but Barnes poured forward into a dangerous position at the byline after the Roma centre-back Roger Ibañez, trying to shield the ball from Iheanacho, inadvertently played a one-two with the Leicester winger. “He got me the best Portuguese bottle of wine,” Mourinho said.

One point in two matches have put Spurs' top-four hopes on life support.

Three points are vital, but so is waking up the front three for the run-in. The scoring is there, but the defending has not, with the Foxes fourth-worst in xGA this season in the league. With Sergio Reguilon out, hopefully Ryan Sessegnon can hit a nice stretch of form over the final month, as he has felt a bit lacking during the team’s slump as well. With how the team is structured, a more open match should leave a pretty realistic path to victory. It has not been the desired season for Leicester, as a mid-table finish is all but assured. Perhaps a date with Leicester will be exactly the remedy Spurs need.

Jamie Vardy was isolated as the single forward, as both Ademola Lookman and Marc Albrighton (the starting wingers for Rodgers) held natural width for the majority. This has been a difficult style for City to puncture against, deep blocks require intricate play (and a lot of patience) to break down. Unsurprisingly, considering it’s José Mourinho at the helm, A.S. Roma sacrificed a lot of their “static possession” intent, to play in a deep shape and execute counterattacks.
