Fred and Edinson Cavani could both return from calf injuries. Four players are out for Brentford — Ethan Pinnock, Sergi Canos, Frank Onyeka, and Saman Ghoddos.

Those factors culminated in Judge deciding to resign from his role as United’s director of football negotiations. Judge had previously reported direct to Woodward, but he did not have the same line into new chief executive Richard Arnold. People with a good understanding of Manchester United believe Matt Judge’s position at the club became uncertain once Ed Woodward left. Manchester United transfer news LIVE (Manchester Evening News)

Catch up with the latest news, views and transfer rumours from Man United with dedicated blog updates.

United have suffered a fifth straight trophyless season, are all but certain not to qualify for the Champions League and can only match their worst points total of the Premier League era from 2013-14. United drew 1-1 against Chelsea on Thursday night, despite the London club's dominance in the match, and they'll be hoping to deliver an improved performance against Brentford. Alejandro Garnacho made his United debut versus Chelsea and more youngsters from the academy could be handed opportunities tonight. It's very possible, however, that the Mitchell love-in is restricted to United aficionados on social media and that many more casual supporters aren't familiar with him. Rangnick will continue in his consultancy role and the German said he wants to help 'United become a real force again'. The Lazio midfielder is a name that has been continually linked with United for some time now. Currently on loan with Sevilla, the France international has totted-up 79 goals and 50 assists from 269 appearances for United in all competitions. As for Howe, meanwhile, he has guided Saudi-backed Newcastle to the top half after taking over in November and initially being faced with a genuine relegation threat. United have three games remaining — against Brentford, Brighton and Crystal Palace — this season and Ralf Rangnick has received calls from fans to play the academy products. The midfielder is being touted as a possible option for United during the summer transfer window. United did at least manage to stop the rot somewhat with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea on Thursday, ensuring they didn’t make it three straight defeats. United are expected to put in the work for several recruits during the summer window. Keane is among the names that have been touted for the vacancy, along with the likes of Paul Clement, Phillip Cocu and Henning Berg.

Man Utd fans plotting mass walkout during Brentford game in Glazer ... (Daily Express)

MANCHESTER UNITED fans are planning to use their final home match as a protest against the Glazer family by walking out.

We respect that people have different ways of wanting to fix this, but we just felt like we need to be on the same page if what we do is to be effective. But the fans haven't forgotten, and even with the impending arrival of Erik ten Hag this summer, members of the group have told Joe.co.uk that this will not deter their plans to protest. "There's a lot of different groups from within the United fanbase who've had their own ideas of how to do this," a spokesperson told Joe.co.uk. Fans disrupted one of their biggest home games of the season against Liverpool, and the plans to breakaway into a new league were quickly retracted. The latest protest has been organised by the group 'The 1958', who are intent on upholding the values of United through culture and traditions. The owners have been targeted in their last two home games, and another protest is planned for their final fixture at Old Trafford this season.

And Rangnick refused to answer whether the Portugal captain would be part of Ten Hag’s plans when he enters the Old Trafford. Ten Hag has a reputation for rebuilding teams, whilst also tapping into the academy and giving young prospects the opportunity to cement themselves in his plans if they step up to the mark when called upon. Cristiano Ronaldo could be the only out and out number nine at United when Ten Hag takes the club’s reins.

Manchester United are reportedly ‘set’ to make Tyrell Malacia their first signing of the Erik ten Hag era. And any potential deal will be bad news for Alex Telles and Brandon Williams. "I know I can play in this league, and I know I can get to the top and that's what I want to do." The relief turned to disbelief a couple of minutes later when the peerless Ronaldo slipped and fell over when clean through on goal thanks to a delightful Diogo Dalot through ball. He is not alone, of course, and the sub-plot of the game revolved around the imminent shake-up expected from Ten Hag and how the supporters would react to their last home game of a wretched season. It was his ninth goal in his last six league games for the club, a spell in which he has accounted for all but three of his team’s output.

Manchester United finally gave the Old Trafford faithful something to shout about as Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane sealed a 3-0 win ...

They proceeded to shake hands with a lot of the backroom staff with this being their last game at United's home ground. It was vintage Mata and Ronaldo couldn't contain his joy as he celebrated with the playmaker opting to hug his teammate instead of his patented 'Siu' celebration. Referee Chris Kavanagh waved away appeals but Ronaldo was adamant that it was a spot-kick. Mata, who is likely playing his final game at Old Trafford, made sure he left supporters with a game to remember as he kept cropping up in dangerous areas. Fernandes opened the scoring in the first half, ending his goal drought before Ronaldo doubled their lead from the penalty spot to make Brentford the 168th different club he has scored against. Joy turned into despair however as VAR ruled it out for offside.
