The breakthrough!— Wycombe Wanderers (@wwfcofficial) #WYCvMKD pic.twitter.com/Wd5V2hmVw1 May 5, 2022 MK hustled and bustled but Wanderers were not letting the visitors get into the final third, with the match now becoming a midfield battle. The match turned into a game of chess as Wycombe and MK remained rigid, denying any chance of each other going forward, with the best form of attacks being doing the wings. The tide had turned as Wanderers were now in the ascending, and with five minutes to go to half-time, Adams Park erupted. In what was a slow half for the Wycombe as the away side bossed possession, the Chairboys had the first chance of the opening period, but Sam Vokes’ volley was scuffed into the arms of Jamie Cumming. As far as football playing styles are concerned, beast may have defeated beauty at a packed Adams Park last night, yet there is another enthralling chapter ...
MK Dons have been one of the most attractive teams to watch in League One. Critics will never forget but they are young and ambitious.
We won’t expect to dominate the ball in every game in the Championship but we won’t change our principles and therefore we hope that would translate to that level instead of us yo-yoing. “There are a lot of things that they have ticked off this year. “We have a really exciting young British manager, there are a lot of things that people say football clubs should do — we trade to try to be as sustainable as possible. The guys are already in a position that we would have taken if offered it at the start of the season. “That’s how we compete with the likes of Sheffield Wednesday or Sunderland. Whether you transitioned with the move from Wimbledon to Milton Keynes is a whole different story, but having a massive fanbase doesn’t dictate the football on the pitch. For players, if you’re 22 or 23, you look at us and think you’ll get that opportunity, but the club won’t stand in their way if a better opportunity comes. Whereas Sheffield Wednesday would have expected to be in the top two and they’ve had to settle for a play-off place. “If you compare us to Sunderland or Sheffield Wednesday, our fanbase isn’t as big, the attendances show that (their average of under 10,000 this season is less than a third of Sunderland’s). But it doesn’t take away from the fact that we are a tight fanbase. We recruited a good team and expected, if all went well, to challenge for the top six. The Milton Keynes-based club are seeking a return to the Championship, after a six-year absence, via the League One play-offs. Did we expect to take it to the last day for automatic promotion?
