New 2022 Range Rover Sport arrives with minimalist look (AutoExpress)

The new Range Rover Sport follows its iconic big brother to market with a jump in quality and hybrid powertrains.

Initially, the new Range Rover Sport will be available in SE and Autobiography spec, with Dynamic options on top, too. And as is the current trend, an all-singing and all-dancing First Edition model will be available for the first year. The interior, according to McGovern, is “Closer than ever in terms of luxury to the Range Rover” – and it looks it. Even the speakers for the Merdian audio system can be covered in textiles, while the audio system is also used for noise cancelling or to enhance powertrain sound responses with additional speakers in the headrests. At a glance, the new car is clearly still a Range Rover Sport, both in proportion and detail. Like its bigger brother, the Range Rover Sport features familiar family styling cues, but with a new sense of minimalism and modernity – so it’s no surprise that Jaguar Land Rover creative director, Gerry McGovern says it follows his modernist design philosophy.

2022 Range Rover Sport revealed (WhichCar)

Strong mix of petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains on offer for new Rangie Sport.

We’ll wait until we drive it, of course, but at first acquaintance the new Range Rover Sport looks like a thorough and deeply thoughtful rework of a formula that’s found favour around the world. Both will be based on the lavish Autobiography trim level. All models come with a high/low range transfer case, wheel articulation is 546mm, and the air suspension can hoist the Sport 135mm above its standard ride height to give it 281mm of ground clearance. The range will later be expanded with the addition of an all-electric model in 2024. Powertrains start with the 3.0-litre Ingenium turbocharged straight-six petrol and diesel engines with the 48V mild-hybrid (MHEV) system. MLA-Flex has been designed to accommodate mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and full battery-electric powertrains, and JLR’s powerful EVA 2.0 electronic architecture. It’s a Range Rover, so of course the seats are leather trimmed. You’ll hear the difference rather than see it – many of the speakers are hidden behind a new woven acoustic fabric on the door panels. The optional Dynamic appearance pack delivers a sportier, more dramatic treatment of the front splitter and rear faux diffuser. 99 Look closely and you’ll notice a gentle crease that effectively wraps around the rear of the car, subtly adding strength to the whole rear end. 99

It is a modern alternative, and interior design manager Lee Perry says that it is also easier to clean. Most of the stereo system speakers are hidden behind fabric surfaces in the doors. The angled dashboard layout is home to a digital instrument display and a floating 13.1in touchscreen with haptic feedback that runs Land Rover’s latest Pivi Pro software. Still very much a Range Rover Sport, it looks leaner than before and features shut lines (gaps between the body panels) that are half the width of the outgoing vehicle’s. Dynamic versions adopt a more road-biased appearance with larger wheels and the entire body painted in the same colour. An elongated roof spoiler adds drama to the side profile.

It's here: all-new Range Rover Sport unveiled (CarBuyer)

Following the release of the full-sized Range Rover, its smaller sibling gets sleeker styling and an equally tech-filled cabin.

This can tailor the throttle and braking response of the car while navigating rough terrain and even features a special off-road cruise control function. There are two to choose from; both use a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine mated to an electric motor to provide up-to 503bhp. For now, however, buyers have the choice of a range of semi-electrified options. As standard, the Range Rover Sport gets 20-inch wheels, with top-of-the-range models receiving 23-inch alloys. At first glance, it may appear that not much has changed for this third generation of Range Rover Sport. However, just like the newly revised Range Rover, Land Rover has opted to refine and perfect the car’s design language. The new Range Rover Sport is due to arrive in showrooms this autumn, with prices starting from £79,125 – nearly £15,000 more than the old car’s asking price.

New 2022 Range Rover Sport revealed with hybrid, petrol, diesel ... (Car Dealer Magazine)

Just as dealers begin to hand over the brand new Range Rover to eager customers, the British brand has revealed the new Range Rover Sport. Sitting.

There’s a 900mm wading depth and Land Rover has also fitted the Sport with an advanced cruise control system that can be used off-road. Under the bonnet there’s a selection of petrol, diesel and hybrid power. The new MLA-Flex platform supports a twin-turbo petrol V8, mild-hybrid petrols and diesels, and plug-in hybrid power. Unlike the outgoing Sport, the new car is a strict five-seater and therefore benefits from a larger boot (835/1,860 litres) and more rear leg-room. At first glance the new Sport looks similar to the outgoing car, but the design has been sharpened. Headlining the range is a 503bhp BMW-derived 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, but making up the bulk of sales will be a 3.0-litre straight-six mild-hybrid petrol and two 3.0-litre mild-hybrid diesels.

2022 Range Rover Sport luxury SUV revealed: price, specs and ... (What Car?)

New Range Rover Sport luxury SUV gets the longest range of any plug-in hybrid, with a fully electric version coming soon.

That means big families will have to opt for the more expensive Range Rover (or a rival SUV) if they need seating for a driver and six passengers. The interior of the Range Rover Sport borrows heavily from that of the regular Range Rover, but has a lower driving position and a smaller steering wheel to give it a sporty feel. Here we count down the top 10 – and reveal the one to avoid The PHEV models are likely to have slightly less boot space than the mild-hybrids because of the bigger battery packs. Mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions are available from the outset, and a fully electric version – expected to have a range of more than 250 miles – is due in 2024. Our experience in the regular Range Rover suggests that it will be easy enough to use (although a rotary dial set-up like the one in the rival X5 would be even better), and thankfully it has physical, rather than touchscreen, climate controls. There’s also a 13.7in digital instrument cluster which can put a variety of information right in front of you, plus a voice assistant based on Amazon’s Alexa, meaning some functions, such as setting the radio station or changing the temperature, can be controlled by speaking to the car. There’s also wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, plus a tray to charge your mobile phone. It also features the longest rear spoiler ever fitted to a Range Rover. It has advanced systems including adaptable air suspension, all-wheel steering (to improve manoeuvrability) and active dampers designed to reduce body roll during cornering. We suspect most buyers will be more tempted by one of the two PHEV options. The mighty SVR is expected to match the 616bhp offered by the rival BMW X6 M Competition.
