NHS England » Why nurses are vital to the NHS' net zero goal ... (NHS England)

I was born 10 weeks premature and owe my life to the amazing midwives, nurses, doctors, and other NHS staff working in neonatal intensive care many years ...

Nursing, midwifery and care staff are leading transformational change across health and care, and have a unique role to play in supporting the NHS’ net zero goal. We all have a role to protect our patients, colleagues, communities, and the NHS. In October 2020, the NHS became the world’s first health service to commit to reaching carbon net zero. In addition, for me being a nurse also means calling out the causes of inequality and doing what I can to tackle the reasons why they exist. Many years ago, Mary Seacole skilfully understood the natural world using plants and herbs as part of her nursing care, and our profession has always understood the importance of the environment on our health. The shortage of healthcare professionals in South Africa has led to nurses working in the public health sector faced with almost double the workloads.

“Some nurses of course during the pandemic, because of their age decided to take their pensions, some unfortunately succumbed to the disease, that is why we are more than limping as the nursing population. He said the shortage of training colleges makes the issue worse. But to be very honest we are running a healthcare system that is very much unsafe, that is very much not of quality,” said Madumo-Gova. He added that the Covid-19 pandemic negatively affected the country’s nursing services, but the department is doing all it can to resolve these challenges. This is according to the President of the Young Nurses Indaba Trade Union, Lerato Maduma-Gova. This has resulted in stringent measures implemented to control filling of positions including key line function posts to avoid over expenditure on CoE,” said Mohale.

International Nurses Day: Challenges In Filling Gap In Supply And ... (TheHealthSite)

India needs to add more than 4.3 million nurses by 2024 to meet the WHO norm of 3 nurses per 1000 population. TheHealthSite.com.

Celebrated every year on May 12, International Nurses Day marks the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, who is hailed as the founder of modern nursing. Taking a cue from the rising demand for home healthcare, nurses need to be given on-job training for home healthcare and specialized short-term courses should be developed to effectively cater to this demand. It is also imperative for the hospitals to involve nurses early on, in the design of facilities and the development of protocols. Training in soft skills with AETCOM (Attitude Ethics and Communication) modules 2-3 common languages is equally significant to ensure quality care and addressing language barriers. Accreditation of nursing colleges will further help to ensure quality nursing education and improve the employability of students graduating from accredited institutions. As per WHO norms, there should be 3 nurses per 1000 population.

Nurses take care of the patient, talk to the patient, and instill hope in the patient, whereas doctors only visit on a periodic basis. , the significance and importance of the profession is highlighted even more. Without a doubt, the pandemic and the resulting healthcare crisis posed a massive challenge to the whole healthcare sector. Training nurses has become a big challenge in India due to the progressive increase in attrition rates. They perform a critical function in ensuring that the patient receives timely and proper care from the Doctor by recognizing and conveying the circumstances of the case to the Doctor, which can occasionally result in a lifesaving role. Because of how Nurses and Healthcare Professionals around the world gave it their all during the Covid-19 crisis, the event becomes more important and significant this year.

Chief adult social care nurse Deborah Sturdy celebrates the sector and the investment to support social care and NHS nurses for International Nurses Day ...

Sharing and learning together through the many nursing in social care forums, such as the QNI Care Home Nurses Network or Skills for Care Nurses group, will enable you to connect to your peers and meet likeminded nurses, and is a small investment of time in your development. To date, we have received over 90 silver and 170 gold nominations and I love reading the inspiring stories of award winners and the very great pleasure of visiting many services to give awards in person where possible. In the NHS there is also much to celebrate with a record number of nurses – over 314,800 – as of February 2022. This year’s theme for International Nurses Day is investment and for me that means investment in the profession, which is crucial to boosting workforce recruitment and retention. This includes £500m to develop the social care workforce through training opportunities. In April, the health and social care levy came into effect, which will help tackle the Covid backlog and reform the adult social care system, as promised in the People at the Heart of Care white paper.

Nurses are leading the way to the future in patient care, patient safety and patient experience." No two patients are the same, no two conditions are the same, and no two clinical presentations are the same. "One thing to get across to dispel the idea that's come back a bit during the pandemic that nurses are just angels. "The nurses are, with the rest of the clinical teams, right at the cutting edge of care. And in Newcastle we are often dealing with incredibly complicated conditions. In the 21st century, the staff made clear that nurses do far more than you might expect.

Celebrating International Nurses Day 2022: “It takes a lot of empathy ... (Zoella)

Doing a 12-hour shift in full PPE is DIFFICULT! You can’t just go and grab a drink and it is hard, but we would really do anything to care for the children. People think of nursing and just see a nurse on a ward helping a patient to go to the toilet, but it’s so much more than that! I have to also be *that* person and say a pay rise would be nice. We look after lots of ventilated children on lots of different medicines and work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to give the best care that we can. I qualified as a nurse in July 2020 in the middle of the pandemic! No amount of training can prepare you for that first year where you are a newly qualified nurse and suddenly you’re in the numbers!Rachael I have definitely experienced working environments where the attitude is that crying is seen as a weakness or that it shows you can’t cope with the job. When it comes to the dynamic between members of staff, in general in A&E, I find there’s a good relationship with the doctors! It’s definitely better for me to acknowledge how the day made me feel, process it and then I can move on. I’d say the toughest part of my job is knowing how unwell a patient is and knowing that sometimes, despite my best efforts, the outcome isn’t going to be the one they wanted. After finishing uni and some travel, I continued working as a Porter and never really found a job I wanted to do that was relevant to my degree. I think it caused a lot of staff across the NHS to burn out.
