Using natural language processing, a branch of artificial intelligence, researchers found men outnumber women in works of literature.
And we absorb a lot of associations and stereotypes and kinds of cultural knowledge about those categories.” To turn these insights into concrete action and national progress, we have developed the Closing the Gender Gap Accelerators model for public private collaboration. Tellingly, this ‘character gender gap' narrowed when the books were written by women. This includes extended parental leave, subsidized childcare and removing unconscious bias in recruitment, retention and promotion practices. These accelerators have been convened in ten countries across three regions. - The cumulative effect of such unconscious gender bias can contribute to the gender pay gap and fewer women being in leadership positions.
Boris Johnson's government rejected calls to introduce compulsory pay gap reporting for ethnic minorities, saying it doesn't want to overburden British ...
According to recent data, the number of employers in the United Kingdom who voluntarily disclose ethnicity pay gap data has dropped.
If the voluntary approach fails, the government expects companies to “take meaningful action to identify and then tackle the causes of disparate pay” once the guidelines has provided them with “a trustworthy, consistent standard for reporting.” The UK government had a consultation on this in 2018, and the House of Commons Women and Equalities Committee recently recommended that big companies reveal ethnicity pay gaps starting in April 2023. On March 17, the government released its response to Dr. Tony Sewell’s Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities’ far broader findings.
A Conservative MP has blasted the government for its “lack of will” to tackle racial disparities after ministers refused to introduce mandatory ethnicity ...
Introducing mandatory ethnicity pay gap reporting for larger businesses would set the ball rolling reducing inequalities between different ethnic groups. In the committee’s February report, several incentives were provided for adopting the mandate. Start your Independent Premium subscription today.
It argued that mandatory reporting would help address pay disparities between employees from different ethnic backgrounds. The government has backtracked on the ...
It makes clear that what is lacking in this administration is not resource or knowhow, but the will or care to foster a fairer and more equal society.” It may not be the most appropriate tool for every type of employer seeking to ensure fairness in the workplace.” In 2018 the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy launched a consultation that stated: “The government believes it is time to move to mandatory ethnicity pay reporting.” The consultation closed in January 2019, but the government is yet to publish a response.
The Government rejects calls of cross-party MPs to introduce mandatory ethnicity pay gap reporting.
Introducing mandatory ethnicity pay gap reporting for larger businesses would set the ball rolling reducing inequalities between different ethnic groups. The MPs' report found that the introduction of ethnicity pay gap reporting would be the 'first step' to addressing pay disparities between employees from different ethnic backgrounds. The response also discounts the Government’s commitment in a 2018 BEIS consultation, which stated that ‘the government believes it is time to move to mandatory ethnicity pay reporting’.
In February, the House of Commons women and equalities committee called for legislation to introduce the metric for companies with over 250 employees, ...
Companies who employ over 250 employees are currently required to report gender pay gap figures and so are “already well resourced” to gather data on ethnicity and pay. Introducing mandatory ethnicity pay gap reporting for larger businesses would set the ball rolling reducing inequalities between different ethnic groups. These include the distinction between different ethnic groups in reporting, and advice for employers in regions with statistically low numbers of people from ethnic minorities.
Here's how AMD's FSR 2.0 upscaling tech performs in Deathloop, the first game to support it.
Even if it can't take advantage of dedicated hardware, it’s managed to close the quality gap on DLSS significantly, while keeping its platform agnostic quality and even beating the simpler, less intensive FSR 1.0 at 1440p performance. FSR 1.0’s Quality setting is the fastest of the bunch, though using the higher-quality FSR 2.0 or DLSS options only added around 10% more FPS than native 4K. On the positive side, AMD card owners will be relieved that the newer version of FSR doesn’t run significantly slower than DLSS, and there’s also some reassurance in knowing that you can select the Quality option and still get near-identical performance to the Balanced option. “Balanced” is the second-highest for FSR 2.0 and DLSS, making it the equivalent of “Quality” on FSR 1.0. Not confusing at all. In the comparison above, you can see how the leather and stitching on Colt’s glove, as well as the decaying brick wall, appear just that little bit sharper with FSR 2.0 on its Quality setting. FSR 2.0 still has a pixelly smoke problem at 1440p, and again DLSS’s Quality setting generally enhances Deathloop slightly more. FSR 2.0 still manages to look even better than native at 1440p – or at the very least, sharper. Still, at least FSR 2.0 can join DLSS in the Better Than Native club. In Deathloop's case, I used the Ultra preset for testing, so in any FSR or native shots you're looking at TAA. It’s weirdly pixelated with FSR 2.0, while DLSS maintains a more natural look. To find out how well it works, compared to both DLSS and FSR 1.0, I reinstalled Deathloop and gave all three upscalers a whirl. This is a big moment for the heavily upgraded FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution), as it’s basically attempting to fight Nvidia’s rival DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) with some of its own tactics. Upscaling works by rendering games at a lower resolution than your monitor’s native res, then reconstructing each frame to make it look as close to native as possible - sometimes even better.
