The Ibrox side warmed up for their Europa League final with an impressive victory in Gorgie in their Scottish Cup dress rehearsal.
I’m really impressed with the win because of the way we played. We need to show the confidence. A forward, he has impressed in the Rangers 'B' team and he will be hoping for a dream debut today. But he is young and needed time to find his feet and he could even now be in with a shout of forcing his way into the Europa League final XI if, as now looks likely, Kemar Roofe is out. I got my chance and I think I’ve taken it well so I’m just buzzing. It was Itten who had a low shot saved by Gordon that resulted in the corner and that will do plenty for his confidence. I said before the game we had some changes in the line up and a lot of youngsters on the bench but once we pull on the Rangers shirt we’re expected to win the game and they excepted that really well. Alex Lowry is a player with just so much potential and the youngster's lovely finish gives the visitors the lead at the break, picking the ball up on the left before providing a classy finish for his first league goal. Alex Lowry is the first Rangers player in Clancy's book for stopping Atkinkson in his tracks as the Autralian tried to mount a Hearts attack. It’s the best feeling ever and Wednesday is a chance for the club to make history and to be a part of that is amazing and hopefully I get the chance to travel out. I always had the motivation to be pushing on to get to where I am just now and getting to play with the team in front of the fans gives you that little bit more and I can’t wait to get back in next season and see where it takes me. I started off with the ‘B’ team and we had a friendly at Ibrox but I was told I wasn’t playing as I was involved today.
Rangers are at Tynecastle this lunchtime for a dress rehearsal of next weekend's Scottish Cup Final at Hampden.
Cedric Itten, who is not part of the Europa League squad, leads the line in attack. However silverware is clearly on the minds – particularly Rangers who head to Seville shortly for a tilt at the UEFA Europa League against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday. Van Bronckhorst has made no less than TEN changes to his line-up which faced Ross County in a bid to avoid any injuries to his key men – but there is no space for injured striker Kemar Roofe, not even on the bench, as he races against time and a knee problem to be fit to feature against the Germans.
Gers have Seville on Wednesday on their minds while the Jambos want a strong end to their season and a momentum builder.

RANGERS continued their winning momentum going into Wednesday's Europa League final as they closed out the Scottish Premiership season with a 3-1 victory at ...
McCausland found him in the area with a fine ball from the right, and McKinnon steadied himself to finish brilliantly past Gordon from 15-yards out. That meant the XI finishing the game for Rangers was McLaughlin in goal, King, Simpson, Sands and Devine across the backline from right to left, McCann, Lowry and McKinnon in midfield, with McCausland and Weston playing in support of Itten – that being seven Academy players on the field for the Light Blues. From the left, he danced a super path into the area to get clear of the Hearts defence before deftly curling the ball beyond Gordon and into the back of the net. Gers were only able to partially clear a ball into the area, and Peter Haring was able to curl an effort into the low left corner of the net from the edge of the box. Craig Gordon made a fine save with his legs to deny Itten at the end of a sweeping move from Gers, but from the resulting corner, the big Swiss got his reward. It was Gers who had the first big opportunity when Lowry and Amad burst clear – Lowry fed Amad for the shot but his touch just let him down inside the area and Hearts were able to clear the danger.
Robbie Neilson's side opened the scoring through Peter Haring midway through the first half. That was cancelled out by Cedric Itten before Alex Lowry put ...
The 3-5-2 at Fir Park was shifted into a 4-4-2 with Stephen Kingsley at centre-back and Boyce partnering Ellis Simms in attack. He advanced to the penalty box before cooly passing beyond Gordon. Robbie Neilson’s side opened the scoring through Peter Haring midway through the first half.
Rangers ended their Scottish Premiership campaign in style with a comeback victory away at Hearts, preparing them for Wednesday's final perfectly.
The little Ivorian was buzzing around at the top of the pitch and causing a constant nuisance to the Hearts defence as he nipped in to win the ball on multiple occasions before making lung-busting runs forward without the reward he deserved. As he has been whenever he’s started in the senior side, Lowry was the standout performer and the way he controlled the game from both central and wide areas was mesmerising. He sat in a much deeper role than he perhaps is used to so Lowry and Ramsey could bomb forward but he has never looked more settled and you were never worried about losing the ball when he had it in his possession. The teenager was forced to play out of position at left-back at Tynecastle and you could tell he wasn’t entirely comfortable in the role. He’s much better in the midfield and van Bronckhorst will have taken note of that fact for when he comes to selecting him again in the future. It went about as you would expect for his first appearance for the senior side with the home side keen to try and expose him at times but he stood up to the test reasonably well and ventured forward when he could.
Hearts could tue the decision to start Liam Boyce v Rangers as Ibrox manager Robbie Neilson talks about taking “risks”.
“It was just a tight groin. He thinks it’s just a tightness. The Jambos have a Scottish Cup Final clash with Rangers at Hampden next weekend and will need their best players to be fit and firing if they want to lift the trophy.
