Mellor was awarded the BAFTA Dennis Potter award in 1998 for Outstanding Writing for Television. Programmes Mellor has written on and created take in Brookside, Coronation Street and Children’s Ward along with The Syndicate, Fat Friends, Playing the Field, Girls’ Night and Band of Gold.
