Tired of the whole game.” “He always played sober as can be. Hawkins had told Rolling Stone in June 2021 that he was dealing with stage fright anxiety and was “trying really hard to figure out how to continue to keep the intensity of a young man in a 50-year-old’s body.” Hawkins had complained to confidantes about being tired and not being able to tour a full schedule anymore, according to the report, which draws on the testimony of multiple sources more than a month after the musician's death.

Details finally begin to emerge about the death of Taylor Hawkins (A Journal of Musical Things)

It's been two months since a call went out from Casa Medina, a Four Seasons property, in an area of Bogotá, Colombia called Chapinero. It was 7:40 pm on.

He was genuinely worried that he wouldn’t be able to handle all the post-COVID rescheduled dates that the Foos had around the planet. He was dehydrated and all kinds of stuff.” The specifics of the collapse are still unknown. After the scare in Chicago, Rolling Stone alleges that he had a “heart-to-heart” with Dave and Foos management, saying that he couldn’t take the pace anymore and that they had to figure something out. We can debate on issues involving privacy and the wishes of Taylor’s family and the rest of the Foo Fighters, but that all may soon be moot. So for somebody to say that he was doing drugs that day, that is just about the most false thing anybody could ever say about him.” Apparently. If you remember the story, the Foos were scheduled to play a post-race gig at the last F1 race of the season in Abu Dhabi last December 12. His heart was that size long before the pandemic. I quote: “[Taylor was] “trying really hard to figure out how to continue to keep the intensity of a young man in a 50-year-old’s body, which is very difficult.” Taylor and his doctor knew about his “runner’s heart” (his doctor’s words) for quite some time before his death. And any junkie will tell you that there’s no way you can shoot up on a show day, especially if you’re going to play as hard as Taylor did. The benzos and anti-depressants could have been related to Taylor’s chronic stage fright. What was the cause of death?

Chad Smith and Matt Cameron have distanced themselves from a Rolling Stone article in which they're quoted on Foo Fighters' Taylor Hawkins.

“Instead, the story they wrote was sensationalized and misleading, and had I known I never would have agreed to participate. I am truly sorry to have taken part in this interview, and I apologize that my participation may have caused harm to those for whom I have only the deepest respect and admiration.” “I was asked by Rolling Stone to share some memories of our time together, which I thought was going to be the loving tribute he deserved. Representatives for Foo Fighters reportedly commented “That is not true” when asked about Hawkins losing consciousness on the flight. “He was dehydrated and all kinds of stuff.” The Rolling Stone story, citing Hawkins’ friends – including Smith and Cameron – asserts that Hawkins had grown increasingly uncomfortable with the band’s touring schedule.
