James Tarkowski admits Burnley have not been good enough over the course of the season after their relegation from the Premier League was confirmed.

"The fans have been amazing and we have not given them enough to cheer about. "There is never a lack of effort or desire from our team, we have just lacked individual quality in front of their goal most of the season and we have given away too many sloppy goals. "It is a sad, sad day for everyone involved for the club," said the striker. "They have got dangerous players on the counter attack and they are going to make chances but we dealt with that most of the time. Burnley's relegation from the Premier League means there will be four major Lancashire sides in the Championship next season.

The last time all four of those Lancashire clubs were in the same division was way back in the 1960/61 season. Burnley finished fourth in the First Division that year with Blackburn in eighth and Blackpool 20th.
