A recap of the Man United transfer rumours, injury updates and more ahead of today's final game of the season.

He's Dutch. He's bald and he might be the answer to United's problems. It is public knowledge and the away supporters have ample time to choreograph their support for the new United manager. Most of the players are in an invidious position, though. Manchester United's trip to Selhurst Park might mark the start of a bright new beginning for the club, but it was a look at the past on Saturday afternoon that also provided a possible solution. Jurrien Timber's representatives 'in England' to talk about Man Utd ... (Daily Express)

MANCHESTER UNITED have interest in Ajax star Jurrien Timber as the summer transfer window creeps closer.

And, now, a summer switch to Old Trafford could be on the cards. Then, in a second tweet, he added: “There is a belief that Manchester United are currently the frontrunners to sign Jurrien Timber.” They want to land a new midfielder at a time where the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic are heading elsewhere. “At this moment, Timber to Manchester United is not done, and there is competition from other clubs,” he stated. And all signs are pointing to that being Timber, at a time where the likes of Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe are all expected to depart. Jurrien Timber’s representatives are reportedly in England to discuss a move to Manchester United. The 22-year-old has developed well in Amsterdam under Erik ten Hag, establishing himself as one of the best defensive prospects in world football.

Wilfried Zaha netted the only goal of the game at Selhurst Park, which saw Ralf Rangnick's final match as interim manager end in defeat.

Inside the final 10 minutes, there were calls for a penalty to United as Cavani appeared to be hauled down in the box – but appeals were waved away and there was no VAR intervention either. Into the final 30 minutes of the season and the Reds were continuing to search for a leveller. At the other end, Zaha was continuing to cause problems, dragging a shot wide of the post. The resulting set-play saw Scott McTominay left with a free hear at the back post – but he could only direct his effort right at the keeper. David De Gea was then forced into a couple of smart saves from the Palace left, first from Wilfried Zaha and then Jeffrey Schlupp, but the Spaniard dealt with both efforts comfortably. At the start of the second period, an early chance came United’s way when Cavani was fouled in Palace territory.

But you can only find what you need if you know what you are looking for and you need to know that in advance. And as I said if you know what you are looking for and how you want to play then it's a lot easier.” Ten Hag has already been working on his vision for the club after jetting into London on Wednesday evening with assistant Mitchell van der Gaag, where he met United chiefs for meetings in their Mayfair office. “This is obviously different here because United are already in the Premier League and we are a club with high expectations with a big tradition of being successful. A win for United would see them qualify for the Europa League - a consolation prize for what has been a disastrous season at the club. There is significant weight attached to Rangnick's final afternoon in the hot-seat, with United still yet to determine which European competition they will be involved in next season.
