We gave him the option of joining late but he preferred to keep going and then leave a bit earlier." "I spoke with the two lads about where they were with that and where they felt like they were with that - they are in different positions in that with their age. It is a major boost for West Ham forward Bowen who has scored 12 goals, provided ten assists and would have been in the last squad but for the fact he was unavailable through injury. England boss Southgate insisted that his absence is merely about giving the veteran midfielder a rest after a busy campaign, stating: "The decision around Jordan Henderson - I don't need to know anymore about him and he's played a lot of football this season." He works incredibly hard for the team, which we want all our players to do.

In 2007, the club's Cobham facilities were opened at a cost of £20m - with a further cash injection of nearly £2m in 2016. It was not long ago that many scoffed at the lack of chances afforded to youngsters at the club. But as of now, it is Chelsea that rules the roost when it comes to developing players - but how did they do it?
