This allows Gus to cover up his role in the attack while providing an opportunity for Nacho to tell Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis) face-to-face that he caused the stroke that put Hector in a wheelchair. Nacho finally finds himself in way over his head in Season 5 as he works as a double agent for Gus in order to keep his father out of harm's way. Along the way, Jimmy, Mike, and Nacho all bump into each other a few times; their paths start crossing more frequently in Season 5, as Nacho recruits Saul to represent the cartel's drug dealers and even Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton) himself in court.

5 Burning Questions We Have Going into Better Call Saul Season 6 ... (Twinfinite)

Better Call Saul's mid-season finale left us with a huge cliffhanger: Howard's been shot dead by Lalo, and Jimmy and Kim are most certainly in danger. The big ...

I guess the real question here is, will Jimmy and Kim face the consequences of what they did to Howard, and will they try to salvage his image and reputation in any way to try to make up for their actions? Here are some of our biggest burning questions we have going into the second half of Better Call Saul’s final season. All signs point to Lalo’s death, but is he really going to go down that easily? With the way things stand now, however, it’s really unclear what Kim’s path forward is going to look like. This is the biggest looming question that’s been on everyone’s mind since the start of the series, and things are getting pretty serious at this point. Better Call Saul is back with its sixth and final season, but it’s truly felt like time has passed way too quickly, as we’re already at the mid-season finale.

Better Call Saul Teaser Previews The Second Half Of Final Season (Game Rant)

Following the shocking mid-season finale, the show released a teaser for the latter half of its final season, teasing a "happy ending."

The promise of a happy ending after all that's happened to Jimmy/Saul/Gene in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul will only strengthen the fans' curiosity about where this show ends. You have to hand it to the showrunners of Better Call Saul. They know how to keep their viewers invested in this show. After the mid-season finale that Better Call Saul just aired for its viewers, it's hard to see how this show will have a happy ending when it's all said and done.

Better Call Saul Season 6: Episode 7 Recap, Theories, and Thoughts (ComingSoon.net)

Where previous seasons allowed Jimmy and Kim to more or less function on their own apart from Mike, Gus, and the drug cartel, now we see Lalo Salamanca very ...

A quick whiff of ozone and Lalo makes the call and spills his plans to Hector, knowing full well Gus will likely hear his intentions. I figured Howard would die, but I never expected Lalo to commit the deed. Once Walter White comes along, Jimmy seizes the opportunity to bail and ends up working at a Cinnabon. But that’s just my half-assed theory. - At one point, Jimmy implores Kim to get back in her car and head to her all-important meeting. We see as much in the early goings of “Plan and Execution,” the de facto mid-season finale, during which Jimmy gets the gang back together to restate the photographs of the actor impersonating the Sandpiper judge — this time wearing a cast. All the while Jimmy and Kim listen in on the conference line, eventually tapping out to make out on a nearby couch. It takes quite a bit of effort and Kim remains as committed as ever, but the team pulls it off despite the last-minute notice that pulls each of them away from their day jobs — who knew Drama Girl was into The Dark Crystal? Howard suffers perhaps the worst day of his professional life at the hands of Jimmy and Kim and ends up a corpse all because he wanted a little payback. He looks insane as he tosses allegations the judge’s way much to the confusion of everyone involved, especially Cliff. Where previous seasons allowed Jimmy and Kim to more or less function on their own apart from Mike, Gus, and the drug cartel, now we see Lalo Salamanca very clearly step over the invisible barrier separating the plots and drastically altering the course of the other. He pulls the trigger that kills Howard and neatly wraps Jimmy and Kim into his battle against Gus Fring, the “clever, clever chicken man.” Poor Howard. I knew something was going to happen to our favorite blonde, overtly tanned lawyer, but the shock of seeing a well-known (and likable) character get his brains blown out was still quite, ah, shocking.

Better Call Saul season 6 episode 7: what happens in part 1 finale ... (NationalWorld)

The season had building up to a big event, as Jimmy and Kim schemed to ruin Howard, and Lalo went in search of revenge on Gus Fring.

Cut to black. The obvious point to make is that Howard won’t be appearing in the second half of the season, unless it’s in a non-speaking capacity as a corpse. Lalo calmly shoots Howard in the head, killing him instantly, and tells Jimmy and Kim that he just wants to talk. Jimmy and Kim’s plan comes to fruition and they listen in on the Sandpiper meeting where Howard makes a fool of himself, wrongfully accusing the judge of being corrupt. Jimmy and Kim beg Howard to leave, but Howard can’t quite decide if this is still part of the pair’s plan to torment him. Having set up a photoshoot using a lookalike in order to make it appear to Howard that he had bribed a judge, it was revealed in episode six that the real judge had his arm in a cast, so the photos had to be reshot.

He also didn’t engage with replies to the photo in any way, letting users talk themselves into and then out of the notion that it was a spoiler. If only that were the reality, then Howard may have lived to see another day. Those users were proven right when “Plan and Execution” aired and proven even more right yesterday when Odenkirk owned up to the snafu. Better Call Saul just aired one of the most shocking episodes of its entire run. Howard is firmly a part of the show’s legal world while Lalo is entrenched in the cartel world. After Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) and Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) thoroughly ruined his life with their cruelest con yet, soon-to-be-former lawyer Howard Hamlin (Patrick Fabian) pays them a visit to dress them down.

'Better Call Saul' Season 6 Mid-Season Finale Leaves Us Shocked (Man's World India)

In a satisfying conclusion, we finally see Jimmy's world collide with Saul's in one of TV's greatest cliffhanger episodes, ever.

While we know that Saul gets up and continues to swindle the good people of Albuquerque, this might be the moment where Kim realizes she’s gone too far—that her relationship with Jimmy has brought out the worst in her. There’s some pretty disturbing shit unfolding in this scene – not only do we sympathize quite a bit with Howard, who has held his tongue on Jimmy for several seasons now – we also see him die immediately after, making the memory of Kim and Jimmy making love at the sound of his downfall quite… Hopefully, Kim finally decides to let go of Jimmy and not be a part of Saul’s life… He quickly loses control when he finds himself cornered, tanks the entire case, and loses his reputation in front of the Judge, Sandpiper attorney Rich Schweikart, his close friend Cliff Main, and especially Jimmy and Kim, who have been listening in through a bugged desk, and celebrate by getting it on in the background. Through the quick use of some bribes and his old phony film crew, Jimmy’s plan got back on track soon after the broken arm of Judge Casimiro knocked their plans off course earlier in the season. We also commend writer Tom Schnauz for tweeting this absolute banger, probably with the most sinister of smiles on his face as he typed away to legions of anxiety-riddled fans:

'Better Call Saul' Season 6: Why [SPOILER]'s Death Extinguishes ... (Collider.com)

Better Call Saul's mid-season 6 finale closed with a death that marks the beginning of the end for our troubled characters.

They have given in to the darkness, something they will now be defined by for the rest of their existence. The agony of seeing their steady decline over the past six seasons has all been building to this. Yes, we will still see how Jimmy and Kim have to figure out what to do with the murderous Lalo in their apartment. The way Jimmy and Kim continue to exact cruelty on others reaches a breaking point, culminating in a man dying on the floor before them. As his now-lifeless body falls to the ground and smashes into the living room table, snuffing out any possibility of redemption for him, the finality of the moment does not just have consequences for the former lawyer. However much we hope for the better natures of Jimmy and Kim to overcome their descent, the destruction they wrought on Howard is a new low. It is no accident that one of Howard’s final scenes sees him looking at the painting of his departed friend, Chuck, and reflecting on how there are more important things besides being a good lawyer. He never would have bought into their misdirection and showed up at their apartment. After months of meticulous planning, plus a last-minute adjustment, Bob Odenkirk’s Jimmy McGill and Rhea Seehorn's Kim Wexler pull off the most devastating scam seen in the entire run of Better Call Saul, managing to convince Patrick Fabian’s Howard Hamlin of a different plot that didn’t exist and getting him to completely embarrass himself and tank mediation on the Sandpiper case in the process. To do so, at the end of the prior episode, Kim turns away from the opportunity to expand the good work she is doing for clients trapped in an unjust justice system. He knows he has been cruel in the past, though it seems he has turned over a new leaf and is attempting to better himself. It is a visit motivated by confusion, rage, and desperation to find out why they had done this to him.

Better Call Saul Season 6: Creator Teases What's Next For Lalo vs ... (Screen Rant)

Better Call Saul showrunner Peter Gould teases Lalo Salamanca's plan for his ongoing crusade against Gus Fring in the remainder of season 6.

Lalo's exact motivation for murdering Howard is unclear, though he did witness his arrival and likely didn't want to leave any loose ends. For much of the mid-season finale, Lalo's attention is occupied by the laundry, but once he realizes how well fortified it is and that Gus is anticipating his arrival, he makes a sudden pivot to Jimmy and Kim's apartment. He knows what Gus Fring knows, and Gus Fring doesn't know that he knows it. Better Call Saul showrunner Peter Gould teases Lalo Salamanca's plan for his ongoing crusade against Gus Fring in the remainder of season 6. Is he just settling old scores because he can't get to Gustavo Fring now? During season 6, episode 7, "Plan and Execution" (the mid-season finale), both these storylines finally converged.

Better Call Saul: Bob Odenkirk admits spoiling mid-season 6 finale (Metro)

Better Call Saul fans are still not over the mid-season 6 finale, Plan and Execution, which saw the biggest cliffhanger of the show so far.

Honestly I was kinda expecting him to have a fall, definitely didn’t saw what happened coming, loved the episode! The best of persons, on screen and off. I did not know you could see a little bit of make up that told story… ‘My heart can’t handle all of these emotions. as if he had been shot by a bullet in the head. Bob also reposted the same picture yesterday, after the episode had aired, saying: ‘Masterful Fabian on tonight’s episode.

Feeling the thrill of seeing Jimmy and Kim take down Howard only to have it turn into sympathy & guilt in a single episode. This fan pointed out how the show highlighted Jimmy and Kim’s success, only to be left feeling sympathetic for Howard in his final moments: “Now that is storytelling. One fan on Twitter wrote: “That ending of Better Call Saul was insane. Shows the unintended consequence of their actions, and how dark their plan really was.” This fan, who noticed the severity of Jimmy and Kim’s plan commented: “That was actually perfect. Bob Odenkirk Admits He Spoiled Better Call Saul Season 6 Death ... (Screen Rant)

Bob Odenkirk admits to the fact that he accidentally spoiled Better Call Saul's midseason finale twist while filming back in October 2021.

While some fans speculated about the blood in the actor's hair, they assumed that Odenkirk wouldn't have posted the photo if it contained any genuine spoilers about the fate of Howard Hamlin. The fact that the photo was not removed from his feed seemed to support that theory. I did not know you could see a little bit of make up that told story… Hopefully, the star kept a tighter lid on his posts for the second half of the season, because fans are certainly going to be scouring his feed from now until the finale. The picture, which he posted again on the day the episode aired, revealed some stage blood stuck in the actor's hair, ultimately spoiling his character's fate in the series as it is on the side of the head where the bullet presumably exits. This marks the tragic end of a character who had been in the main cast since the very first episode of Better Call Saul. It turns out that, back in October 2021, while the series was being filmed, Odenkirk posted a photo with Fabian celebrating his performance on this episode.
