The band are signed to Manchester-based independent record label Spike Island, but all still work full time in their "day jobs" while they follow their dreams of making it in the music world. Lead singer Jack Yates, 21, from Clayton, and guitarist James Yates, 24, from Droylsden, grew up on the music of Oasis and Manchester bands, and so it's a dream come true for Pastel to have been personally chosen by Liam to kick off his historic double header at the Hertfordshire park. There, fans got a taste of what to expect at the Knebworth shows, with a stirring setlist including a mix of Oasis classics and Liam's solo anthems. And it is all a bit of a pinch me moment for the lads.

Liam Gallagher live in Knebworth: the NME review (NME.com)

LG comes out fighting to deliver an epic day in the sun, bringing Oasis' iconic gigs to the next generation.

The opening salvo of ‘Hello’, ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Star’ and ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ come out of the blocks like a fistful of knock-out blows as Liam’s vocals loudly roar across the crowd over these timeless anthems. It’s not only a great achievement for him but it’s a big respect to the fans to do something like this,” says Benny. “He’s really, really pulling it off too,” adds Holden. “The amount of people that are coming, over these two days is insane. The day begins with a clutch of support bands ready to kick off this Hertfordshire rock’n’roll party in style. Even though Oasis guitarist Bonehead, who, in Liam’s words, gave a “bit of bollocks” to his shows in recent years, sadly can’t be here tonight to help revive those incredible times, it’s absolutely Biblical. Liam Gallagherfirst announced his return to Knebworth, he described the gigs as “history – part two”. It was a bold step even by his bullish standards. But when you hear his heartfelt reasons for doing so, you can understand why: in his eyes, the youth of today never had their Knebworth, so why not give it to them?

Closing out an electrifying show was ‘Champagne Supernova’, where Liam was joined by the one and only John Squire who reprised his appearance from the Oasis Knebworth gig from 1996. He sings like his life depends on it and this Knebworth gig was one of the best vocal performances of his that I have heard. It’s the special and unique relationship between Liam and his ardent fans.
