Love Island, ITV2, review: Series 8 has potential, but its certainly not ... (iNews)

I advise we all watch with the cautiousness and level-headedness of an early relationship: one day at a time.

In the words of Luca Bish who sells fish “it’s early days”, but it’s hard to get excited about this bunch of islanders just yet. Later, just as Paige was chatting up Davide with her literary preferences (romantic and mafia books, how convenient), the self-proclaimed Italian stallion got the first text of the series. Enter Davide, a statuesque Italian god who disrupted the evening with “did anyone order an Italian snack?” Cringeworthy and hilarious all at once – this was the Love Island we signed up for. It didn’t take long for the flirting to kick off, and soon the conversations turned to sex positions (anyone ever heard of the broken eagle before?) and whether being a dancer makes you flexible. It’s no accident that the new Love Island villa (or at least the bedroom) is evocative of the very first season in 2015. In between generic dance pop beats, their chat quickly turned to standard Love Island fare; answers to the inevitable “what’s your type” question boiled down to facial hair, tattoos and whether they were going to wear “ugly trunks”.
