Four others were arrested for incidents including insulting police officers and urinating in the street. A man jailed for selling illegal devices providing unauthorised streams of Premier League matches has been ordered to pay back almost £1m following a court ruling. But Steph Houghton is confident of making it for Euro 2022. They deserve to be on the beach somewhere, soaking up the sun, drinking cold beverages and getting into unnecessary fistfights with the locals. Gareth Southgate and the lads went for a nice walk in Budapest last weekend. England defender Alex Greenwood is out of the squad’s training camp at St George’s Park after testing positive for coronavirus. Tickets to live shows in June and July are available here. Sadly, instead of lying beside the pool, imbibing hop-based refreshments and throwing hands at native law-enforcement officers, they’ve got more goddamned Nations League effing football to play. They’re strolling on fumes after the end of a long, hard, dramatic, emotionally draining season. We’ve got one thing right, mind: the Uefa schedulers want clipping around the ear. The players surely can’t be bothered, if their signal disregard on Saturday for giving new England broadcaster Channel 4 bang for their buck is anything to go by. Not The Fiver, that’s for certain.

Del Cerro Grande pointed to the spot and Kane kept his cool to beat Neuer and delight the England fans in the 88th minute. Penalty claims appeared to be unsuccessful as Germany countered, but for the referee was advised to check the pitchside monitor by the VAR. Thomas Muller and Hofmann saw goals ruled out, while former England Under-21s international Jamal Musiala showed his class Southgate’s side were looking unsteady at the back and were struggling to get to grips with confident Musiala, whose skill and directness was threatening. There was a moment of solidarity before kick-off, where Germany joined the visitors in taking the knee after the anti-racism stance was booed in Hungary. The midfielder tried to run off the issue but admitted defeat in the 13th minute – a moment Germany cheekily tried to capitalise on as Muller clipped home from a quickly taken throw-in.

Harry Kane penalty rescues Nations League point for England in ... (The Guardian)

A late Harry Kane penalty gave England a 1-1 draw in their Nations League clash with Germany in Munich.

Maguire almost scored with a looping header, Kane was thwarted by Neuer’s legs and the substitute. Müller was denied by Pickford following a David Raum cross but it was England, with Jack Grealish on for Mount, who pushed for the equaliser. Their team had chances in the first half and it was an irritation that none of them were taken. He had been denied by Manuel Neuer as England turned the screw late on and, with time almost up, he melted away from Nico Schlotterbeck inside the area to draw a clumsy challenge from the Germany centre-half. It went to VAR and, after a lengthy delay, the decision was that the contact from Schlotterbeck had been the reason why Kane lost his footing. - was not in the mood for the soul-searching inquest.

Germany 1 England 1: Harry Kane scores penalty to rescue Nations ... (Glasgow Times)

HARRY KANE helped to rescue a point for England last night to ensure they did not suffer two Nations League defeats on the spin.

However, England did get their goal, after Kane was fouled inside the area on 85-minutes. Jack Grealish fired a wicked ball across goal for the striker. It didn’t take long for the deadlock to be broken after the break, though. Jamal Musiala is certainly a name to keep an eye out for in the coming years. After some neat interplay between Joshua Kimmich and Ilkay Gundogan, the ball found its way to Hofmann inside the area. The first-half was a bit messy, if truth be told.

New-look Italy beat Hungary to continue unbeaten Nations League ... (FRANCE 24)

Italy continued an unbeaten start to their UEFA Nations League campaign on Tuesday after beating Hungary 2-1 with an inexperienced line-up.

But a youthful XI showed signs of life in Saturday's draw with Germany and they took that momentum to Cesena, frequently playing with the style and verve which characterised Mancini's team before the Euro. The hammering Italy took at the hands of Argentina in last week's 'Finalissima' in London seemed to confirm a deep crisis. Roberto Mancini selected a host of players who played little or no role in Italy's triumph at Euro 2020, the glow of which has dimmed after failing to qualify for this year's World Cup in Qatar.

Italy 2-1 Hungary: Azzurri seal narrow win (UEFA.com)

Two first-half goals helped Italy get back to winning ways with a home victory against Hungary.

The four group winners in League A will advance to the knockout finals with, in principle, one appointed as hosts. Marco Rossi, Hungary coach: "In the second half the team played better. Both teams were a bit tired at the end." Hungary, however, never gave up and forced Italy to hold on for the final whistle following the other Mancini's unfortunate own goal. We also proved that we can battle together, it's a good sign. There was to be no further score as Italy claimed their first win of this UEFA Nations League campaign.

Germany 1-1 England: player ratings from the Nations League game (The Guardian)

Ilkay Gündogan and Josh Kimmich were outstanding for Germany while Kyle Walker stood out for his defensive timing in the 1-1 draw.

Saves from Müller and Werner partly atoned. Early fumble, iffy distribution and might have done better for goal. Such a graceful player to watch but direct goal threat limited. Kai Havertz Intelligent movement pulled England’s defence around and contributed to Hofmann’s strike. Jonas Hofmann First-half strike was correctly disallowed for offside but he produced one that counted soon enough. Ilkay Gündogan Probably the slickest player on the pitch.

Germany v England: Nations League – live! (The Guardian)

Minute-by-minute report: Will England improve on their poor showing in Hungary when they head to Germany? Find out with Scott Murray.

The ball finds Mount, just to the side of the German box. England make five changes to the starting XI selected for the Hungary defeat. 3 min: Rudiger flicks the corner on at the near post. We had to get some of the players through the first game and rest some, so they were fully sharp for tonight. Sterling is sent into space down the inside-left channel, and his shot-cum-cross is deflected out for a corner. 11 min: England are down to ten for now, as further checks are run on Phillips. Musiala has a dig from the edge of the box. 7 min: The ball’s worked back to Kane, who lets rip towards the top right. 9 min: Schlotterbeck comes striding out from the back in Beckenbauerian fashion, and clips a pass wide right for Muller. As he does it, he clatters into Phillips. Or perhaps Phillips clatters into him. The whistle goes to stop play. Not sure where the England defenders are, but they can be thankful to Rice, who sticks to the side of Klostermann, ensuring the pass to release Havertz is never on. This is great fun, in the basketball style. 30 min: Trippier stretches to flick a defensive header out of play, then accidentally lands on the nearby Hoffman’s heel.

Late Harry Kane penalty gives England Nations League draw in ... (The Independent)

Germany 1-1 England: A 50th senior international strike for the Three Lions captain cancelled out Jonas Hofmann's earlier effort.

As Germany built play, and England sought to congest the box, Kimmich unlocked it all with an incisive first-time pass. That can actually be easy to see with a Flick team, but difficult to exploit. It was very quickly very obvious that they are already a transformed team from last summer, and pretty much the previous four years. It is something England still lack, and does raise more questions about what next for the summer. That stat shows how far they’ve come, but maybe reminds us there is also a bit to go. Harry Kane scored his 50th international goal with a contentious late penalty, to secure a 1-1 draw against Germany that Gareth Southgate’s side probably didn’t deserve.

It was Sterling’s 75th cap for England with Southgate’s side showing great heart to summon up a dramatic late comeback prompted by the introduction of Grealish on 70 minutes.

The Republic of Ireland will attempt to bounce back from their disappointment in Armenia as they welcome Nations League rivals Ukraine to the Aviva Stadium ...

Ukraine’s ranking of 27 suggests the Republic can expect significantly fewer opportunities than they squandered against 92nd-placed Armenia, so they will need to be far more ruthless if they are to prosper. Ireland are heading into uncharted territory as they attempt to negotiate four fixtures in 11 days with first of them having involved a lengthy journey and 90 hard minutes under the Armenian sun. With Matt Doherty unavailable for selection through injury, skipper Seamus Coleman’s absence with a groin problem leaves a sizeable hole for Kenny to plug on the right side of his defence.
