The Irish are one of the favorite teams to advance to the round and the duel against Ukraine should be very important to get points for the next round. The match will take place at the Aviva Stadium, at 2:45 p.m. Now, the mission is to qualify for EURO 2024 and continue to demonstrate the team's potential ahead of the upcoming qualifiers for the Canada-United States-Mexico 2026 World Cup. We're just under an hour away from the match between Ireland and Ukraine kicking off at the Aviva Stadium. Both teams will go out in search of victory. Ukraine start as the heavy favorites for this game, but an Ireland victory would not be a surprise. The Ukrainian national team begins a new football process after being left out of the process towards Qatar 2022 in the last round of the European qualifiers. A player falls inside the area but the referee does not mark anything. The Aviva Stadium located in the city of Dublina will host this second date of the UEFA Nations League of group E. This stadium has a capacity for 51,700 fans and was inaugurated in 2010. The Irish come to this duel after being left without a ticket to the Qatar 2022 World Cup in the first round of the European qualifiers by finishing in third place in Group A, behind Portugal and Serbia. With the new process ahead of the 2026 World Cup to be held in North America, Ireland will seek to continue growing in order to have a chance of qualifying for a World Cup. For this, the Greens will seek to fight to get to EURO 2024 to show that the team is growing and measure its progress towards 2026. Although the spirits are not the best, the team will have to put the defeat against Wales behind them and begin to envision a bright future and, with the new FIFA format, the possibility of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. Ukraine starts as one of the teams favorites to advance from the round in group E together with Ireland, which is why this first duel between the favorites will be of the utmost importance for the aspirations to advance to the next round. Who will make it tonight? We are just minutes away from the start of the presentation of the game and the previous protocols.

Ireland vs Ukraine player ratings from 1-0 loss (Pundit Arena)

Ireland suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Ukraine on Wednesday night, thanks to a second-half goal by Viktor Tyshankov. Player ratings...

Had a terrible impact on the match. Lively as always, and a real handful for the Ukraine defenders, but not his finest ever showing. Similarly to the game against Armenia, Obafemi failed to do anything too special when he came on, but there were no chances created for the Swansea striker. A terrible performance from the big man, who was tasked with the captaining the side on the night. He will be a regular feature in this Ireland midfield for years to come. Poor performance from the West Brom forward. Some nice touches in midfield, and he broke the play up well on occasion. Was more willing to try things than Cullen, but his execution was all over the place. He can occasionally be a bit too relaxed on the ball, but you’d imagine Kenny is encouraging this sort of play. If his end product improves, he will be a top class player. Our best player on the night. Caoimhin Kelleher – 4

Substitute Michael Obafemi glanced wide and Josh Cullen thumped a long-range attempt just wide of the same upright with Lunin rooted to the spot in a rousing finish, but it was all too little, too late and Tysgankov saw a stoppage-time shot deflected onto the bar. Shane Duffy came closest to salvaging a point late on when his header was tipped onto the crossbar by goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, but a much-changed Ukraine dug deep to repel the late Irish rally as the hosts, who are yet to score a home goal in the Nations League since its inception, saw their winless run on home soil in competitive matches extend to 10 games. Republic of Ireland vs. Ukraine - Football Match Report - June 8 ... (ESPN.co.uk)

Ukraine overcame their World Cup qualification heartbreak by winning their Nations League opener with a nervy 1-0 victory vs. Ireland on Wednesday.

Ukraine nearly took the lead from a counter-attack late in the first half when Taras Kacharaba found the back of the net with a stunning half-volley from outside the box but the effort was ruled out for offside in the build-up. The result left Ireland bottom of the group after losing to Armenia in their first game. Ukraine, beaten by Wales in the World Cup qualifying playoff final on Sunday, were the better side in Dublin and a set-piece goal from midfielder Viktor Tsygankov sealed the three points for the war-torn nation.
