Muse bring epic show to Isle of Wight, jam Slipknot and Guns N ... (Kerrang!)

At their stunning-looking headline set at last night's Isle of Wight, Muse got their jam on and added various massive rock riffs to the likes of Won't…

The trio unleashed a mammoth 22-song setlist on the night, with material from new album Will Of The People plus plenty of colossal hits. Later this year, Muse will be playing a bunch of intimate theatre shows across the globe, from Los Angeles to Milan. The gigs will follow the release of their upcoming ninth album, which arrives on August 26. The Isle of Wight Festival for an absolutely epic show.

The set also saw the band perform snippets of Slipknot's Duality, Guns N' Roses Sweet Child O' Mine and AC/DC's Back in Black.

“This album is a personal navigation through those fears and preparation for what comes next.” All three were played during Muse's Isle of Wight set, which also included yet-unreleased single Kill or Be Killed during the encore. In new footage posted on YouTube, Bellamy can be seen venturing out to the stage's ego ramp walkway wearing the glove like a musically-inclined Thanos, before using it to play a selection of calming synth lines.

"Hysteria" featured riff nods to AC/DC's "Back in Black" and Rage Against the Machine's "Know Your Enemy." The already heavy "Won't Stand Down" added a bit of Slipknot's "Duality" into the mix. While the glove may have turned a few heads, Muse also served up a number of heavier musical queues throughout the night, owing a nod to the heavier sound their forthcoming album seems to have. Muse's Will of the People arrives Aug. 26 and pre-orders are available here.

REVIEW: Isle of Wight Festival 2022 (Bournemouth Echo)

Boarding the IOW ferry in Southampton early on Thursday morning it was already warm with the promise of a glorious sunny day ahead. It has only been…

There was just about time for The Coral and Rudimental before the main arena seemed to swell in size as people arrived from all over site to catch Sunday night headliners Muse. From there it was time for a stroll to the main stage for the mighty Proclaimers who provided an excellent set with 500 miles getting the crowd animated and singing along. Whilst waiting for the set to start I chatted to Lynn and Clare who had driven down from Glasgow and bought day tickets just to catch Mark’s set and then drove back the next morning, an 18 hour round trip, now that is dedication. With Friday over and done with it was a weary trek back to the accommodation to prep for the next two full days at what was turning out to be one of the best IOW festivals yet. An incredibly hot and sweaty Thursday ended with great sets from Heather Small and The Happy Mondays before heading off to catch a few hours’ sleep ready for what promised to be an even busier and hotter day on the Friday. As promised Friday was an absolute scorcher with warnings to drink water and take care of yourself.
