Seventh seed Hubert Hurkacz, who is in Djokovic's half, and last year's runner-up Matteo Berrettini, a potential semi-final opponent for Nadal, could well be the biggest threats to the top two. The 19-year-old has the potential of an all-British clash in the second round against wild card Yuriko Miyazaki, who faces a tough test against France's Caroline Garcia. Tenth seed Raducanu, who is hopeful of overcoming a side strain in time, faces one of the trickier draws against experienced Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck in what could be her Centre Court debut.

ANDY MURRAY boasts his very own five-star hotel which features a chapel and a private loch. But if mum Judy had her way, he would not have bought it -

He said he would quite like to buy it. Judy continued: “I came up to have a look at it and really the hotel was falling to bits. “I happened to be on the phone to Andy that night and I told him. Judy told the Walking The Dog podcast: “The agent who was in charge of selling it came into my brother’s optical practice in Dunblane and gave his card and said, ‘Cromlix is about to go on the market, if the family are interested let us know before it goes on the market.’ And of course, anyone visiting the hotel who wants to emulate the owner can take to the outdoor tennis court and practise their forehands on the purple-and-blue surface, although it may get a bit chilly in the depths of winter. The hotel is set in a whopping 34 acres of stunning private gardens and woodlands in the Perthshire countryside - including quad biking, an archery range and the glistening House Loch full of brown trout for visitors to fish for.

The 35-year-old Briton looks to have recovered from an abdominal issue and enters Wimbledon with more optimism than he has in recent years.

Not just to play a second round match against Oscar Otte. But to play the final of Wimbledon against Djokovic or Nadal, or [Matteo] Berrettini. One of those guys. Ahead of sustaining the abdominal injury this month, Murray had a promising run in Stuttgart on grass. He has also not gone past the third round of a major in nearly five years.

WIMBLEDON and the ATP have caused a lot of debate over the SW19 ban on Russian and Belarusian players and the stripping of ranking points.

But if you notice, in other sports and in other tournaments, they're allowing the Russians to play. You're asking them to denounce something where they're afraid if they do so that their family, friends or relatives could get arrested and thrown in prison for 15 years. Both the decisions of Wimbledon and the ATP have caused great debate. Wimbledon will never be an exhibition and will never feel like an exhibition. Let's say if [Novak] Djokovic wins the tournament again, he's going to drop even further in the rankings, which makes no sense. Three-time Wimbledon winner McEnroe has by contrast spoken strongly against the ban.

Andy Murray has built his season around being ready for Wimbledon – the grand slam event generally seen as his best chance of rolling back the years.

He says so, and eyewitnesses report he’s looking healthy on the practice courts. Earlier in the season, Murray reached the final of a hard-court tournament in Sydney, but then went on a long run of early exits before taking a break to prepare for grass. He played well in two grass-court events in the run-up to Wimbledon, reaching the semi-finals of the Surbiton Challenger and the final in Germany.
