The Women's Euro 2022 Championship gets underway on Wednesday night when Sarina Wiegman's Lionesses host Austria in the opening game of the tournament.

Amazon's 20 live Premier League games will return in the 2022/23 season. BT Sport hold the rights to 52 live Premier League games. They also own rights to the Carabao Cup and several international matches. As for Austria, they are competing in just their second Euro’s tournament after reaching the semi-finals in 2017 and will be hoping to go one better this year. There are no fresh concerns as things stand, but Lucy Bronze should return to action after missing out in June’s friendly win over Switzerland for precautionary reasons. Sky Sports retain the rights to the bulk of those fixtures with 128 live matches.

How to watch England vs Austria: Women's Euros kick-off time, TV ... (iNews)

England and Austria are opening the tournament at Old Trafford on Wednesday, with kick-off at 8pm.

In the Netherlands, they reached the semis as debutants, but that was a shock feat which will be difficult to repeat. With 2018 Ballon d’Or winner Ada Hegerberg returning to the fold for her first major tournament since Euro 2017, Norway will have one of the world’s best forwards back at their disposal. Merely getting to this stage is a great positive. They are far from a one-woman team; Hegerberg merely brings the killer edge. The Lionesses are strong contenders ahead of a tournament on home soil. There is still some shakiness in defence, but when England get going they’re a tough nut to crack.

Austria go into this game as underdogs but they might not be the pushovers the outright match odds imply. The Lionesses will be led by Sarina Wiegman who took the Netherlands to glory on home soil in 2017 and many believe the former Dutch coach now has an England squad capable of repeating the trick in 2022. England are 4/1 second favourites (behind Spain) to go all the way to international glory and their preparation could hardly have gone smoother.

England v Austria: Women's Euro 2022 kicks off – live! (The Guardian)

Minute-by-minute report: Euro 2022 is finally here. Join Gregg Bakowski for the latest on opening night.

The injury to Spain captain and Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas has made some bookmakers bring England in to almost joint-favourites to win the tournament alongside Spain and it feels like the only thing that could derail England in Group A is the weight of expectation. We have a team of 23 players, this is the XI that starts, but we need everyone on matchday and all the other days. It probably frustrates journalists but it is great for keeping a lid on hype and protecting her players from the pressure. This is such a promising period for England. The manager really is top drawer.” The BBC coverage has just started and they have managed to get Natalie Portman on board to give a rousing monologue about the tournament. Stanway has a little burst up the right wing but as she tries to compose herself to curl in a cross, she is put under pressure and knocks the ball behind for a goal-kick. The teams emerge from the tunnel into the mist and din of Old Trafford. What a noise! She’s so good on the ball and plays with her head up all the time. It’s such a hard header to control though and the ball bounces up and off her head and over. 5 min: Williamson overplays at the back and Austria pick up possession and win a corner. Austria attack on the left and win a throw-in after a no-nonsense clearance from Bright. She curls a ball in towards her Man City teammate Ellen White but it is slightly behind her and she can’t get any power on it.

England vs Austria LIVE Women's Euro 2022 updates (Football.London)

Follow all the action from Old Trafford as the Women's Euro 2022 kicks off with hosts England taking on Austria in Group A.

We know what it is and what to expect. I really think England are going to win the Euros this summer. We've put in the work over the last few weeks and ticked the boxes we needed to. Everybody has their own things in place to deal with it. Pressure is a privilege and we are embracing it. Good evening all, and welcome to our live blog as we bring you all the action from tonight's opening game of the Women's Euro 2022! England of course get their tournament underway this evening as they take on Austria in their opening group game, and we'll be here to take you through it all! Not only is tonight's game available to watch, but so are all of the Lionesses' matches in the tournament! I think the manager, Sarina Wiegman, will be a massive factor with her previous experience of winning it with Netherlands and I think she’ll bring that to England. With the likes of Spain, Germany and Denmark in Group B, England will have to get past another of the favourites in the last eight, but Williams - speaking to William Hill - is backing the experience of Sarina Wiegman will make the difference. The atmosphere is brilliant as we build up to the opening group game, with England aiming to make the perfect start against Austria. The Lionesses head into the competition as one of the favourites to go all the way and claim their first European Championship title.

She’s been given the task of leading them through the tournament. She’s played there before and slotting in at centre-back allows more attacking options in midfield for the Lionesses. None of her teammates can get there and Austria clear the danger. It bounces up for the arriving Lauren Hemp but she can’t find the target with a tricky headed effort.

England v Austria, Euro 2022 live: score and latest updates from Old ... (Telegraph.co.uk)

Austria certainly haven't been deflated by falling behind, going for attack after attack.

Bronze finds Stanway, who is denied on the edge of the area, but it goes back to Bronze, who can refeed the ball into box. In attack, Lauren Hemp was one on one with the last defender, but a poor first touch gave the ball to a relieved defender. Daly tries to push up the pitch, but Austria, brave and bunchy around midfield, are keeping England from joined up attack. Lauren Hemp scurries up the left wing, seeking a waiting Ellen White in the box, but it takes an Austrian deflection and runs out for a corner. Zadrazil comes up, looking dangerous, and England have to scramble to keep the ball out for a corner. Bronze goes on another barnstorming run down the right, but a number of Austrian players descend on her to stop her in her tracks. She tries to sneak a cross into the box, but unfortunately the ball deflects out for a goal kick. This time, Bright passes the ball back to Earps, who sends it out to Bronze. Bronze passes to Kirby, who sends it into the box but can't find support, so clogged is it with Austria defenders. Feiersinger is given too much time to turn, and can send in a cross to Naschenweng, can't get a handle on it in the face of Bright, again defending with a towering presence. Billa is the intended recipient of the looping shot again, but Bright keeps the ball at bay. England have momentum now, with Bronze the next player to run down the flanks and turn to move the shot into the box.

England vs Austria: Women's Euro 2022 player ratings and analysis ... (iNews)

England kick off their European Championship campaign with a 1-0 win over Austria.

Kelly was particularly lively, forcing a corner with one of her first acts on the ball, while Russo was just shy of connecting to dangerous Hemp free-kick from just yards out. - White – 5 A deeply frustrating night. The next game against Norway will tell us a lot more about how seriously England should be taken at this Euros. It’s worth remembering they only beat Austria 1-0 in their most recent meeting before this, and that interrupted what seemed like a constant run of free scoring. England had tried to use her as an aerial threat, but every cross was either collected by Zinsberger, or White could not get enough power on it and put two excellent opportunities wide. Some of Ellen White’s greatest contributions came from her pressing, setting Kirby away for a first-time pass that very nearly resulted in the Lionesses doubling their lead. It had already happened once with Lauren Hemp and Williamson had to adapt quickly to a lot less time on the ball.

Hosts England take on Austria in the first game of 2022 Women's Euros. Sarina Wiegman's side have won 12 in a 14-match unbeaten run heading into the ...

15 mins from kickoff: Part of the reason for England's reshuffling at the back, with Williamson in the heart of defence as opposed to central midfield, is the availability of Fran Kirby. The masterful Chelsea playmaker is in Wiegman's XI, three months on from her participation in the tournament being in doubt. Now the hosts get a move going as Bright booms a ball out to Hemp on the left. The England boss led her native Netherlands to European glory in 2017. Bright get the block in at full stretch but it was far too easy to get the cross in. 15th minute: England play nicely out from their own half, with Walsh producing her best work of the contest so far. Kirby helps it towards Hemp but the Arsenal goalkeeper is out in a flash to touch over. Brilliant chest control from the Arsenal star, and deft lifted finish against the underside of the crossbar... Kirby is instrumental again, slipping a cute pass to Hemp. The winger's cross is met by White, but her diving header flies wide. Austria give the ball away in their own box, with White making a nuisance of herself again. Hickelsberger-Füller cuts in from the right and arrows a shot towards the bottom left corner. They win another corner and the towering Bright is there to deal with it once more. Wiegman’s side could not bring their free-scoring form to the big stage and there are probably still a few issues of midfield balance to iron out.

Beth Mead goal edges England past Austria as hosts get Euro 2022 ... (The Independent)

England 1-0 Austria: Mead dinked the ball home in the first half to give the Lionesses victory at a packed Old Trafford.

Take everything else away and this was ultimately a game between one of the favourites for the tournament and a decent side, but one below England’s level. It meant there was always an edge in the match - except when it got to Austria’s box. The goal had been supplied by a typically inventive pass from Kirby, which stood out all the more because it deviated from England’s general pattern of attack. It means that some elements of the performance – like a ponderousness up front, as well as a sloppiness further back - can be overlooked for the time being. Such a context did mean that Sarina Wiegman’s side enjoyed both a fast start to this Euro 2022 campaign, and also one that involved a long wait. An occasion to remember, and a result that goes down in history.

England vs Austria Women's EURO preview: Where to watch, kick ... (UEFA.com)

When is it? How can you watch it? What are the possible line-ups? All you need to know about the UEFA Women's EURO 2022 curtain-raiser between hosts England ...

"I think, without a doubt, England will dominate the game but we want to make it as hard for them as possible. Everything's branded for the EURO and you just realise it's about to get going. We've shown that we have a very good squad with depth and it's good that we have to make hard choices. But the tournament starts tomorrow, we have been waiting for this a long time and it would be strange if we weren't excited." Unbeaten in 14 matches since Sarina Wiegman took charge, England earned comfortable wins against Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland recently and it's hard to see Austria denying them at Old Trafford. For the Women's EURO curtain-raiser, Wiegman should play her best starting line-up. Austria's pedigree does not compare, but they surprised plenty of observers by reaching the last four on their debut five years ago and will again be looking to make a name for themselves by spoiling the party at Old Trafford; they did not make it easy for England in November's FIFA Women's World Cup qualifier in Sunderland, losing 1-0 to an Ellen White goal.
