Chelsea are close to completing a move for Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling after agreeing personal terms with the star.
Chelsea are set to agree a fee with the Premier League champions, which would now all but seal one of the most high-profile transfers of the summer. Barring any unexpected stumbles, Sterling will link up with Chelsea once the move is completed and should feature on their pre-season tour to the United States. Tuchel also hopes to sign defender Nathan Ake, although optimism in West London about the deal doesn't marry with the stance at the Etihad that a bid of at least £50m will be required as well as having a replacement lined up. However, as previously reported by MEN Sport Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has been negotiating privately over a price for Sterling with Txiki Begiristain and the City recruitment team to ensure that the first bid offered — to be in excess of the £45million City got from Arsenal for Gabriel Jesus — is accepted.
Chelsea are set to sign Raheem Sterling from Manchester City after the winger agreed a £300000-a-week contract, according to reports.
The 27-year-old scored 13 goals in the Premier League last season and started 23 games. Chelsea could also miss out on Raphinha as the Leeds United winger continues to hold out for a move to Barcelona. The Telegraph report that Chelsea will pay a fee in the region of £45 million for the England international.
The Blues are also keen on Juventus' Matthijs de Ligt but are facing up to the frustration that he may instead choose a move to Bayern Munich.
The situation could be leveraged by the fact he only has a year left on his contract, and what happens next as regards his availability. Thomas Tuchel has been left short by the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, which saw them turn to De Ligt in the first place. There is a belief that German football may suit his style more at this point in his career, although they are naturally open to Chelsea's offer.
Football365 - Sterling was 'impressed with Tuchel's vision for the club' and 'it is now believed a deal will happen imminently'.
It might take time at Chelsea but he will be a great signing. Merson told Sky Sports: “I think he might take time, he plays at Man City to the absolute way that Pep Guardiola wants you to play. In my opinion, he will be massively missed.

Central midfield is also an issue for Chelsea, with N’Golo Kanté and Jorginho out of contract next summer. They agreed £55m fee with Leeds for Raphinha last week, only for the Brazil winger to indicate that his preference is to join Barcelona. It remains to be seen whether Barça, who have been engulfed by a major financial crisis, can agree a fee. The La Liga club remain in talks with Ousmane Dembélé over a contract extension. Robert Lewandowski is a potential target but the prolific Bayern Munich striker remains set on joining Barcelona. However Sterling has not been a regular starter for Pep Guardiola’s side in the biggest games over the past two years and he wants to leave City, who have sold Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal for £45m, to play more regularly. The deal would be a major boost for Thomas Tuchel, who has held constructive talks with Sterling about where he plans to use him.
He joined City from Liverpool for an initial £44 million in July 2015 and has gone on to win four Premier League titles, one FA Cup and three League Cups.
