It's likely to be the first chance we'll have to see summer signings Sven Botman and Nick Pope in Newcastle colours, with both new boys in contention to be involved. The Frenchman gets to the byline and puts a cross in but it hits the first man and is cleared. The resulting corner is played short and Willock is slid in behind but it's a great save from the 1860 stopper! Jacob Murphy played through in behind and tries to square the ball to Callum Wilson but 1860 again defend it well. Maxi takes on two right-sided defenders down the left flank and whips a cross in but it's cleared for a corner. But the response in the second-half has been excellent and the class between the two teams has been evident. The Brazilian gets penalised for a heavy challenge in the middle of the park... But in the second half, he was much better and got the opener for Newcastle with a neat finish. Neat pass to Saint-Maximin in the first half over the top after a give and go. In possession, only ever looked to pass the ball to either Dan Burn or Emil Krafth. Was yellow-carded for a clumsy foul on the edge of the penalty area. But it does not tell the whole story – after a poor display in the first half.
