Ryan Garcia Vs. Javier Fortuna: Odds, Records, Prediction (Forbes)

After stepping away from boxing for 15 months to maintain his mental health, Ryan Garcia takes his next step on the comeback trail vs. Javier Fortuna on ...

Say, Garcia by TKO in the ninth round. Here’s more info on the Ryan Garcia vs. I think he’s going to look to be more aggressive, and I think he’ll eventually end the fight early. Garcia (22-0, 18 KOs) is still an undefeated lightweight contender, and he certainly has some solid wins, most notably against Campbell. A win vs. But every time he’s faced an A-level fighter (or even a B-plus level fighter), he’s fallen. With Garcia the -1400 favorite (bet $1,400 to win $100), Fortuna walks into the ring as a +825 underdog (win $825 on a $100 wager). Considering Fortuna was +500 when the fight was first announced and was +600 about three weeks ago, most people have been throwing their money on Garcia. Betting Fortuna at more than 8/1 could be a great play. If you like Garcia, you could get him at +240 to win by decision or -250 to win by stoppage. Ryan Garcia vs. “Ryan is a good fighter, but we hope that this time around he doesn't have any excuses not to fight me,” Fortuna said, referring to the postponement of their clash during the time when Garcia was taking time away from boxing. “It doesn't matter if you are not 100%. We are at the point where that doesn't event matter,” Garcia said. Ryan Garcia vs. After knocking out Luke Campbell in January 2021 for the biggest win of his career, Garcia didn’t return for more than a year.

Ryan Garcia (22-0, 18 KO) squares off against Victor Fortuna (37-3-1, 26 KO) in a lightweight bout at Cyrpto.com Arena on Saturday night.

I am risking my life, sacrificing for my children and I promise that I will give him everything I have. He doesn’t have the capacity and doesn’t have the talent to beat me. “I feel very good to be here, very honored, and am happy that I can move my career forward. “I want Tank Davis next, that is what I have said. I identify with him and the Mamba Mentality, and I am grateful to be able to fight at the Crypto.com Arena. I have seen every style here and now I am fighting here. I feel good, I am healthy and ready to go.

This time, Fortuna did not rise and Garcia was awarded the knockout at the 0:27 mark of the round. Things didn't get better for Fortuna in the fifth round as Garcia's left hand moved from the body back to the head. The patient long-range attack of Garcia (23-0, 19 KO) paid off in big ways as Fortuna's guard steadily came up, exposing his ribs. Official result: Ryan Garcia def. Javier Fortuna promised that when he stepped into the ring with Ryan Garcia, he'd prove Garcia was overrated.

LOS ANGELES – Ryan Garcia gave Javier Fortuna the beating he promised Saturday night. The hard-hitting lightweight contender dropped Fortuna three times ...

Fortuna mostly missed his attempts in the second round. His right-left combination sent Fortuna to one knee with 2:41 to go in the sixth round. Fortuna spit out his mouthpiece as he got to his feet, which bought him some extra time to recover because Cantu called for a break to wash it off. Garcia’s shot sent Fortuna to the canvas briefly, though, for the second time in as many rounds. Garcia snuck a right hand around Fortuna’s guard a minute into the fourth round. Before Garcia stopped him, only Jason Sosa had defeated Fortuna inside the distance.

"That’s the fight that we’re going to go after and I strongly feel that the only way this fight can happen is by the fans rallying behind Ryan and myself and beating the drum and making noise," he said. By the fourth round, Garcia started to fire away at Fortuna and he made his breakthrough with a whipping left hook to the body which saw his opponent take a knee. The referee waved off the contest, leaving Garcia one step closer to a challenge against Davis. Garcia's promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, confirmed talks will now begin to stage what he believes is the biggest fight in boxing. I’m trying to tell you that I have the spirit of competition in me and you’re going to see it come out when I fight Tank and whip his a**. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” He settled down in the second period starting to dominate proceedings. There have always been obstacles to the fight as Davis is signed to Premier Boxing Champions and Garcia is contracted to Golden Boy Promotions.

Garcia wants Gervonta Davis next and is looking the perfect package in a business desperate for a social-media darling with the skills of a fighting demon.

During the last year or so, Garcia has been in and out of the headlines, accused of not having the heart for the dirty, old game and wanting to be a celebrity and not a fighter. Garcia is the model and Jake Paul is the dreamer in this new twilight arena. In round five, Garcia got a bit closer and turned the hook a bit higher and Fortuna crumpled. In the sixth, Garcia put together a seamless three-punch combination of left, right and left hook; Fortuna dropped for the last time. A left hook under the elbow in round four was the first knockdown and it was a blur of perfection, even in slow motion. Fortuna realised early in the fight that he had no match for Garcia’s ambition and speed.

Ryan Garcia receives clear message from Gervonta Davis after ... (Daily Express)

RYAN GARCIA stopped Javier Fortuna on Sunday morning and called out Gervonta Davis post-fight.

The pair seemingly agreed to a contest during Ryan Garcia's appearance on Mike Tyson’s Hot Boxin’ podcast last year but nothing came of it -- a frustrating reminder of the deep-rooted issue of boxing politics. Davis has only fought at light-welterweight once during a WBA (regular) title fight against Mario Barrios. Although Davis came away the victor on the night, 'Tank' clearly struggled with the size of his opponent and hasn't returned since. You only have to look back to the proposed middleweight contest between Jermall Charlo and Jaime Munguia earlier this year. It seems both men do genuinely want to meet each other in the ring, but it's less certain whether Davis would return to 140lb to fight a far bigger foe. Gervonta Davis has told Ryan Garcia that he will see him at the end of the year after ‘KingRy' called out ‘Tank’ post-fight on Sunday morning. Garcia looked extremely impressive during his second outing at light welterweight, as he knocked down his opponent in rounds 4,5, and 6 on route to the eventual stoppage.

There are few things more overwhelming than the tornado that forms when two pugilists circle each other for months, and even years, before finally engaging ...

Garcia and Davis have been gravitating towards one another on the forecast as a Category 5, but it might dissipate into a gust of hot air. The aforementioned Crawford and Spence super fight only came to fruition after the former separated from Top Rank. Davis is still repped by Premier Boxing Champions, who are known to keep the boxers in their stable out of reach from upper echelon fighters who can put a dent in their records. The 5-foot-5 Davis is already giving up five inches to the towering Garcia and three inches in reach. Of all the lightweight sharks, Garcia has the second-highest knockout ratio to Davis and even that statistic undervalues Garcia’s power. The designated weight is bound to be a point of contention in the negotiations. Garcia’s vow to fight Davis became the headline, but there’s one caveat in the fine print of his post-match harangue that could thrust this fight into development hell.

Ryan Garcia Next Fight – Possible Opponents (Boxing Social)

With Ryan Garcia's win over Javier Fortuna, we look at the possible options for his next fight.

Would ‘The Dream’ be as keen if the title was in the possession of Garcia? Hughes and his manager, Andrew ‘Stefy’ Bull, have publicly called for the fight. For all his offensive prowess, Linares is defensively vulnerable and it is that fragility, combined with the Venezuelan’s accomplishments which could make him an attractive option to Garcia’s team. This one is unlikely to be next, but money talks, and there would be an awful lot generated by a bout between two of the most exciting young fighters in the world. Garcia is either an optimist who believes that promoters, broadcasters and weight classes should not be prohibitive to the best fighting each other, or someone who wants credit for demanding the bouts fans want to see, knowing there is little to no chance of them happening. Both men are signed to Golden Boy Promotions, so the bout could be easily made. Perhaps, Garcia has entered the stage of his career where he can make up his own weight classes as Canelo Alvarez did at various points. A clash between Garcia and Lopez has similar obstacles to overcome as the Davis fight, just replace PBC with Top Rank, and Showtime with ESPN. However, the bout is not straight forward to make. That has always happened between rival television stations, it remains to be seen whether such an agreement could be reached with a streaming platform like DAZN. On this showing, he appeared to be the former, rather than the latter. It will take greater tests that this to assess just how high the 23-year-old’s ceiling is. Still, you can only beat what is in front of you, and Garcia certainly looked the part in doing so.

Ryan Garcia Marches Forward To Bigger Things, Eager To Shine (BoxingScene.com)

By Corey Erdman - People have varying opinions about Ryan Garcia as a fighter and as a person, but one thing everyone can agree on is that he knows how to ...

In that moment, he was already thinking of how to maximize the visibility of what he’d just accomplished. This time the microphone was in his hand and the camera would be in his control, how he’s best equipped. He explicitly called out Gervonta Davis, albeit for a fight at 140 pounds, following his win over Fortuna. Davis for his part seemed to respond in the affirmative on Twitter, tweeting “see y’all at the end of the year” shortly after the fight. Fans might see the twenty second clips of Garcia hitting a cobra bag and think his training is limited to what will look cool on Instagram, but Goossen, one of the sport’s most respected trainers, offered tremendous praise for his fighter unprompted at the post-fight press conference on Saturday. In other words, Garcia’s detractors paint him to be a foolish airhead pretty boy who is a construct of the boxing promotional machine. In the fourth round, Fortuna thought he was safely out of range when Garcia feinted him upstairs with a right hand to bring his hands up and then jumped in with a left hook to the body, the same shot that finished Luke Campbell in their 2021 bout. In addition, his openness about mental health is often scoffed at by a vocal sect of fans who believe such discussion to be a sign of weakness, a liberal buzzword or a hoax entirely. Garcia is the latest in a line of matinee idols that have passed through boxing, fighters whose popularity and fame either extend beyond or mainly exist outside of the traditional boxing fanbase, and expressly utilize their good looks in their marketing. In the fifth round, a right hand landed on Fortuna’s forehead that produced a delayed reaction and a second knockdown. But Garcia was too big, too fast, and too long for Fortuna to stay out of danger for any amount of time. People have varying opinions about Ryan Garcia as a fighter and as a person, but one thing everyone can agree on is that he knows how to work a camera. At 5’10” he was going to tower over Fortuna no matter what, but without having to fully dry out to make 135, he looked monstrous in comparison to the diminutive Fortuna whose professional peak was at 130.
