He made the comment as he opened the event in one of his final public appearances as Prime Minister.

We know that time is running out. After listing a series of further achievements, including in relation to coronavirus vaccinations and military support for Ukraine, the Prime Minister said: “I am now going to hand over the controls seamlessly to someone else. Boris Johnson insisted the “engines” of the Conservative Government will “roar on” after he steps down as Prime Minister.

Extinction Rebellion spark chaos as protesters BLOCK entrance to ... (Daily Express)

EXTINCTION Rebellion protesters have blocked access to Farnborough Air Show as the UK heads for its hottest spell on record.

The International Air Show kicked off on Monday morning, and will last until Friday, July 22. The climate protests come on the same day the Met Office warned of a "danger to life" as the UK swelters in a heatwave. A red warning for extreme heat is in place for the southeast of England, the Midlands and up to Manchester, York and Leeds on Monday and Tuesday, with "serious illness" or possible death a real possibility. In a separate post, the account added: "Arms manufacturers are meeting in air-conditioned halls to sell their destructive technologies, as ordinary people in the UK swelter in a #heatwave that experts tell us is a wake up call on #ClimateChange." The prams are intended to symbolise "the threat that conflict and climate breakdown pose to the world’s children", the group said. This is to "represent the mourning of lost generations from climate change and the resulting conflict", the account added.

Farnborough Airshow opens after aviation industry's stormy years (The National)

Boeing and Airbus will declare their latest multi-billion-dollar jet orders at the five-day event.

Airlines cancelled hundreds of orders and demanded compensation. Vertical has received more than 1,300 orders and said on Friday it had secured a commitment to pre-delivery payments and delivery slots from American Airlines Group Inc. Airbus has been forced to build some narrow-body A320neo-family jets without engines to keep assembly lines running. The MAX 10 offers Boeing the opportunity to show off the latest version of the aircraft and seek to recover from the deadly and costly crashes of an earlier model. The crashes in October 2018 and March 2019 led to the aircraft being grounded for 20 months. Boeing plans to show off several planes including the MAX 10, the latest version of its flagship model in the vital medium-haul segment, and hopes to announce a range of new orders.

The fact that a number of them are out on the ramp being prepped for delivery suggests Boeing thinks at least that model will soon get cleared to fly. Pilarski said Airbus aims to take advantage of Boeing's weakness to grab a two-thirds share of the single-aisle market that once was split 50-50. The engineering is impressive. And the 777X is at risk. The technology is there. Boeing delivered 216 jets in the first half. "The MAX 10 is at risk. The CEOs of both Airbus and Boeing have complained they cannot get enough engines to finish their jets. If the MAX 10 were canceled, it's not clear Delta would substitute a smaller MAX model. First delivery is now delayed until 2025 — five years late — and the program has already added $8 billion in unplanned costs. So play on the positives, on dreams. Regulatory approval isn't expected until next month at the earliest.
