Taylor's Transfers: Arsenal double exit, Scamacca West Ham ... (Daily Express)

RYAN TAYLOR brings you up to date with all the latest from the summer transfer market...

The YouTube content will also be back up and running in due course as West Ham, Arsenal, Chelsea, Watford, Fulham and Brighton all feature in this morning's column. Albion have received a proposal understood to be worth in the region of £15m for the former Brentford man but there is no agreement in place, to date. The Frenchman is said to be open to the move having only featured for 20 minutes in the Seagulls' latest pre-season friendly at Reading on Saturday. Taylor's Tuesday Transfers is back after a small blip last week when I was unfortunately unable to deliver the goods due to illness. Dennis has been the subject of enquiries from a number of Premier League clubs this summer with West Ham, Southampton, Everton and Nottingham Forest among the clubs to have held discussions with his agent Drew Uyi. Tavares featured for Arsenal in their 4-0 pre-season win over Chelsea in Florida but he could now be set for a new challenge next season due to fierce competition for places at the Emirates Stadium. Emmanuel Dennis' prospects of an immediate return to the Premier League remain up in the air as interested parties continue to turn their noses up at Watford's £20m valuation of the striker. Brighton and Marseille have also shown interest in the defender in the past week but the Serie A club are leading the chase for the 22-year-old, who joined Arsenal for £6.8m last summer from Benfica. Arsenal are now open to loaning Nuno Tavares following the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko with Italian side Atalanta in talks to land the Portuguese left-back but the Gunners are yet to decide whether they will include an option to buy. Broja is currently nursing a foot problem that ended his involvement with Chelsea on their pre-season tour of the United States prematurely but the injury is not considered to be serious. The player is not keen on another loan move and with Chelsea still yet to sign a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, Broja remains part of Tuchel's thinking - particularly after Timo Werner's horrific performance in the 4-0 defeat to Arsenal in Orlando. West Ham have now cooled their interest in the former Southampton loanee after tying up a deal for Scamacca and while Newcastle and Everton retain an interest, Broja's future remains unclear with further talks with Chelsea expected to take place this week.

“I would have potentially opted for Armando Broja over Gianluca Scamacca, but it is exciting that West Ham are spending that sort of money on a striker. The 23-year-old Rome-born forward, who has played seven times for his country at senior level, scored 16 goals in Serie A last season despite only making 25 league starts last term. It has been widely reported that Scamacca is currently in London and will undergo a medical on Tuesday ahead of completing a move to West Ham. The striker made his international debut last year but is yet to score for his country at senior level.

Kostic, who shares an agent with Scamacca, has just a year to run on his contract with the German club and may be content to stay put and play Champions League football this term before moving on a lucrative free transfer next summer. Eintracht Frankfurt wing-back Filip Kostic is Moyes’ next target and the club are willing to meet the German side’s asking price, thought to be around £12.75m, but there are fears the Irons will struggle to convince the 29-year-old to give up Champions League football. After missing out on Jesse Lingard to Nottingham Forest and with Chelsea’s stance over Armando Broja still uncertain, there will be relief at the London Stadium at getting the deal over the line as David Moyes seeks to continue his squad revamp having finally secured much-needed competition for Michail Antonio at centre-forward.

Scamacca is West Ham coup as they turn down £15m for unwanted ... (Football365.com)

Italy striker Gianluca Scamacca is undergoing a medical ahead of his switch from Sassuolo to West Ham.

That perfectly illustrates the shortage of centre-halves at the club with Craig Dawson also missing the game with a knock not expected to keep him out of the start of the season. Moyes is also understood to be back in the market for a central defender after new signing Nayef Aguerd suffered ankle ligament damage in the pre-season friendly against Rangers last week. The transfer appears to be a real coup for Moyes with Scamacca, who scored 16 goals in 36 matches in Serie A last season, also linked with Paris St Germain and Juventus.

West Ham move for Gianluca Scamacca praised by pundit Lucy Ward (West Ham Zone)

TalkSPORT pundit Lucy Ward believes Gianluca Scamacca's transfer from Sassuolo to West Ham is one of the signings of the summer so far.

However, if and when he adapts, the Italian international will prove to be a superb addition at the London Stadium in the 2022/23 season. It will be important for Hammers fans to be patient with Scamacca, with the Premier League a tough league to adapt to. His ability to hold the ball up and be a target man will be a really good fit for David Moyes’ side, but he can also be a threat in behind due to his good burst of pace.

Italy international Gianluca Scamacca has completed his transfer from Sassuolo to West Ham United and will wear the Number 7 jersey, but a statement isn't.

He started out in the Lazio and Roma youth academies before moving to PSV Eindhoven at the age of 16 in January 2015. The striker returned to Italy for Sassuolo in January 2017, going on loan to Cremonese, PEC Zwolle, Ascoli and Genoa before a breakout season with the Neroverdi that saw him score 16 Serie A goals. The deal was worth €36m plus €6m in performance-related bonuses and a 10 per cent cut of any future transfer fee, all figures confirmed over the last few days by Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali.

Gianluca Scamacca: West Ham and Italy's 6ft 5in scissor-kicking striker (The Athletic)

West Ham's new recruit is blessed with the four Ss - size, speed, shooting and skill - and Italy coach Roberto Mancini is a big fan.

“A week was all it took for me to understand Scamacca is a champion in the making,” Zanetti has said. Veteran striker Ciccio Caputo was moved on to Sampdoria last August on the understanding that Scamacca would get more game time back in Reggio Emilia. Then, in stoppage time of an Under-20 World Cup semi-final a year later, it appeared as though Scamacca had sent Italy through to the final with an outrageous goal — so quintessentially him, a kneed-up, back-to-goal, top-corner scissor-kick — only for it to be harshly disallowed against eventual champions Ukraine. It’s hard to remember an Italian player striking the ball this well since Balotelli and Fabio Quagliarella a decade ago. The ball is at the heart of everything and it’s fun. “I used to spend a lot of time in the street, the ball at my feet, with my mates. The Netherlands, on the other hand, had a far better record of bringing players through to first team-level quicker and granting kids opportunities to test themselves against seasoned pros. The power he generated with his right foot made him a threat wherever he was on the pitch. As a Roma player, everything about Scamacca was amplified on the seven radio stations and four local newspapers that obsess over that club. As a scout, you had to have been living under a rock not to have heard the name Scamacca in those days. He scored directly from a kick-off, embarrassing the goalkeeper from the centre circle. Bargnani, after all, comes from Olgiata, a short 20-minute ride up the Via Cassia from where Scamacca grew up in Borgata Fidene on Rome’s northern periphery.

Five of the best Italian forwards in Premier League history (The Football Faithful)

West Ham are closing in on the signing of Gianluca Scamacca, as the Hammers' hunt for a new centre-forward appears to be heading towards its conclusion.

The forward scored just one league goal for the Reds, before embarking on a nomadic career post-Anfield. Despite arriving aged 30, he spent seven seasons with Chelsea and scored 80 goals in 312 appearances for the club. Ravanelli departed following the club’s drop into the second tier and signed for Marseille, before returning to England with Derby County in 2001. He scored 30 goals in 80 appearances across all competitions, with his finest season coming during the 2011/12 campaign as City won the Premier League title for the first time. He scored twice in the 6-1 thrashing of Manchester United at Old Trafford and provided the assist for Sergio Aguero’s stoppage-time winner against QPR to seal the title on the final day of the season. Di Canio’s influence helped West Ham to a Premier League high league position of fifth in 1999/2000, while he scored one of the division’s greatest ever goals with a spectacular scissor-kick against Wimbledon in March 2000. Balotelli’s spell in England was one of fireworks on and off the pitch, as he mixed moments of madness with magic in Manchester. Di Canio signed for the former from Celtic and finished as the Owls’ leading scorer during his debut campaign with the club, but a moment of madness in which the forward pushed referee Paul Alcock to the ground after being sent off – an incident which resulted in an 11-game ban – brought a premature end to his time at Hillsborough. Zola became the first Chelsea player to win the FWA Footballer of the Year and the first ever to have done so without playing a full season in English football, following a campaign in which he scored 12 goals to hit the ground running. Becoming the highest-paid player in the Premier League in the process, the ‘White Feather’ began with a bang and marked his debut with a hat-trick in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Liverpool at the Riverside Stadium. Vialli scored 40 goals in 88 appearances for Chelsea across his three seasons, before retiring at the end of the 1998/99 campaign to concentrate on management. He won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and the League Cup during his opening months in charge, before following those successes with a 1–0 victory over Champions League winners Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup.
