I don't want to talk him up too much but everything I have seen so far is that he will be one of the players of the Championship if he keeps going on this road. I don't want to talk him up too much but everything I have seen so far is that he will be one of the players of the Championship if he keeps going on this road. I know his game and it goes in two ways - one is him getting to know the team and two is the team getting to know him. It was exciting for the fans and for the team in general. Burnley level and have the bit between their teeth. I look around the league and I don't see many teams having picked up six points so that gives you an indication of how this league is going to shape up. Ian Maatsen saw a tame shot deflected wide and the Clarets forced a couple of corners but carried next to no goal threat. They created a couple more half chances in the aftermath of the leveller with Ashley Barnes twice off target. The winger, introduced at the break for his debut, sparked a vastly improved second half showing from the Clarets and the former Antwerp man was to the fore. The equaliser arrived five minutes into the second half when a loose ball fell to Josh Brownhill who curled a delicious first time effort into the far corner. Burnley fell behind after just five minutes when Dan Potts slammed home from close range as the Clarets failed to clear. It means Burnley have four points from two games, and two excellent halves of football as Kompany's work in progress continues.

That means the trip to Turf Moor could be one of their toughest games of the whole campaign, so it should be a good test of where the team is at the moment. Saturday’s 3pm kick-off against Burnley will be a real test as to the team’s credentials for being as competitive in the division again over the next 12 months. The 49-year old believes this weekend’s clash will be a real test of his side’s ability, but that he is hopeful his team will rise to the occasion of competing against such a talented side.

Burnley's Vincent Kompany: "You always want to win but I saw spirit and high energy in the game. We had more clear-cut chances than they did as well. When we had chances to counter attack we gave the ball away and we were too eager but I am really happy. It was a really disciplined performance and our keeper didn't have one massive save to make. For 10 minutes we were on the back foot dealing with what Luton were bringing to the game but I think after that we matched them for everything, matched them for second balls, we were aggressive and got to the ball in numbers. Luton failed to clear a free-kick properly and when the ball fell to the midfielder on the edge of the area, he curled in a superb shot that left Ethan Horvath no chance.
