Darwin Nunez rescues point for lethargic Liverpool with goal and ... (iNews)

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored either side of a Darwin Nunez flick before Mohamed Salah salvaged a point for a below-par Liverpool.

Soon subbed off for Milner after the break.5/10 Darwin Nunez – An early second-half introduction, replacing Firmino. Arguably should have shot when opting to play the ball across goal, but moments after seeing one flick saved, a second attempt found the net, after Tosin’s touch played it onto Nunez’s heel. Thiago – Arguably the pick of Liverpool’s starting midfielders, found his range early on and almost assisted Diaz in the first half. Jordan Henderson – Went down under a challenge from Palhinha and was on the floor clutching his left foot as Fulham scored their opener. A greater threat in the second half going forward. Andy Robertson – Blocked Reed’s effort moments before Mitrovic gave Fulham the lead. At fault for Liverpool’s second goal, however, heading it back to Nunez. 7/10 Joel Matip – With Ibrahima Konate out injured, a chance for Matip to have a run in the team. Trent Alexander-Arnold – Sloppy pass gifted Mitrovic a huge early chance, and later in the first half was no match for Fulham’s No 9, who got the better of Alexander-Arnold in the air to head in the opener. Andreas Pereira – After a spate of loan spells away from Manchester United, Pereira made the permanent switch to Fulham last month and goes straight into their starting line-up. The drama wasn’t over, though, and Liverpool had their second equaliser when Tim Ream’s header found Nunez, who had the simple task of squaring it to Salah for the tap-in. Nunez then had the audacity to try two flicks in a matter of minutes.

Jürgen Klopp hits out at Liverpool performance and laments Thiago ... (The Guardian)

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp says 'performance was a defeat' in the 2-2 opening draw at Fulham.

“You need this extra, this difference,” said the manager of the Uruguayan forward. For sure we have to think how we react but not panic.” The Fulham manager, Marco Silva, said his side “deserved more than a draw. “The result wasn’t a defeat but the performance was. “We started exactly the opposite way than we wanted. “The performance was a defeat,” Klopp said.

Jürgen Klopp's verdict on Fulham 2-2 Liverpool (Liverpool FC)

Jürgen Klopp admitted Liverpool's performance in the 2-2 draw at Fulham on Saturday to kick off the Premier League season fell below the standards expected.

The performance was a defeat – the result is not a defeat but the performance was a defeat and that's why we have to figure out what happened. But playing the way we played is not how we should play and that's why my frustration about that is pretty high. We played a really bad game and get a point, so that's all a truth as well. Because that was obviously our main problem, that our delivery was most of the time not good enough, and that was alright – we had massive chances, it's crazy. Yes, the result side is very important for us obviously and I would love to get three points, but I would have loved much more to play really good, to be honest, and we didn't do that. In a situation like that when we don't really find a way in front of the goal, you need this extra determination, and the difference as well, it makes it difficult for the opponent obviously. I have to and that's my only concern. I don't want to take anything away from Fulham, they did really well, but to be 100 per cent honest, we were in front of the goal and should've scored, so that's the truth as well. Lucho is a great player, a fantastic player, but today he had a massive chance, super chance. That's why I said now a couple of times already, it's not my first interview, the best news about this game is the result, so I am really fine with the point. So when we overplayed that, pretty much always we were in front of their goal but it still didn't feel good, feel right. Because of that, we didn't find a way in the game.

Liverpool may need three more signings after disappointing Fulham ... (Daily Express)

JURGEN KLOPP may instruct the higher powers of Liverpool to make new signings.

Of course, Carvalho could be deployed on the wing but it would not be his preferred option. Divock Origi, Takumi Minamino and Sadio Mane have all departed this summer and the only attacker to come in is Nunez. Thiago hobbled off of the pitch in the 51st minute, meaning that Liverpool are without four central midfielders at the minute.

Liverpool and FSG think smarter as Manchester United handed ... (Liverpool Echo)

Liverpool's sponsorship deal with Standard Chartered is the third highest in football.

"But more so than just the money, it's the message it sends to the market for us in terms of having a partner for 12 years that will be 13 come the end of this term, extending for another four. Having a lack of database harmed Barcelona's negotiating position when the two came to talking numbers, something that was the polar opposite to what Liverpool had managed to achieve. Spanish website Sport reported back in February that when Spotify engaged in discussions with Barcelona chiefs over a partnership they wanted to know just how many of the claimed 350m-strong global fan base the club had data on. The uplift in value is due to a number of factors. The strategy from FSG has been pretty clear from the off; to grow revenue streams to a point that supports ongoing investment in the team. For decades Liverpool and Manchester United have jostled for supremacy on and off the pitch.

Injury update on Thiago Alcantara as Liverpool's troubles mount.

It is not that we lack midfielders, but it’s just some of them are injured. “Nobody could image that Curtis gets the thing he gets; it is nothing serious but he is a young boy and it is a kind of stress reaction. Oxlade happened early and now with Thiago that is, of course, not good and we will see.
