Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi have reunited to play an unannounced, brief set at the closing ceremony of this year's Commonwealth Games.

With Adam Wakeman on bass and Tommy Clufetos on drums, the Sabbath pair played an extremely truncated version of Iron Man and a complete Paranoid, the song climaxing as fireworks lit up the sky. The performance, witnessed in the stadium by Prince Edward, caused a delay to the start of the following show, the BBC's flagship 10 O'Clock news broadcast. BBC viewers were left thrilled as Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath took to the stage at the end of the 2022 Commonwealth Games closing ceremony.

There were 72 nations represented in the Games, with over 4,000 athletes involved. The next Commonwealth Games are set to be held in Australia and viewers watched as the hosting rights were symbolically handed over to the state of Victoria on Monday night. BBC viewers were treated to a surprise performance from Black Sabbath, fronted by Ozzy Osbourne, as the 2022 Commonwealth Games came to a conclusion in style on Monday night with a superb closing ceremony.
