He told us: "A silent Charlie Chaplin-inspired routine featuring a man dressed with what looks to be a giant arrow arrives at the Alexander Stadium. In the 1950’s Birmingham became one of the leading engine rooms of England, but was lacking enough workers to keep up with the growing demand. And who is in the line-up now. And right at the end, a surprise show from Ozzy Osbourne - the Prince of Darkness himself! In the 1980s and 1990s, something new that was widely overlooked by the general public emerged: club gatherings where thousands of young British Asians would listen to music – primarily bhangra. These secret gatherings, referred to as “daytimers,” took place during the day and involved young people dancing to bhangra music. The segment features 18 dancers from Rambert and 150 volunteer dancers. Thank you Birmingham and the West Midlands." This collaborative performance showcases how powerful togetherness can be, inspiring the next generation of the region’s youth to make sure their own voices are also heard.
