Say hello to two new foldable phones, new smartwatches, and a new pair of wireless earbuds.

Samsung also says it has further enhanced the durability of the main screens by 45 percent over the previous generation. It's like a normal phone, but you can fold it in half like a clamshell—a boon to anyone who hates how massive phones have become over the years. At today's second annual Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung unboxed the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4, which bring more refinements than ever to a still nascent category.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: What has ... (TrustedReviews)

Samsung has just unveiled its newest Galaxy Fold device, but is it really such a big upgrade over its forerunner? Here's the breakdown.

This new generation has, naturally, received an upgrade and has adopted the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, which is a true powerhouse. However, we went as far as to describe the 4-megapixel under-display selfie camera as “dire”, giving poor results in video calls and with selfie photographs. However, is this year’s Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 actually a major upgrade on its predecessor?

Samsung unveils two new foldable smartphones at eye-watering ... (Metro)

Samsung has unveiled a new generation of foldable smartphones as it continues its push flexible-screen devices to the mainstream.

Although Samsung may be criticised for this, it makes sense to take an iterative approach, given foldables devices are currently such a small segment of the overall smartphone market,’ said James Manning Smith, industry expert and senior analyst at CCS Insight. Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Watch 5, Watch 5 Pro and a new set of wireless earphones, the Galaxy Buds2 Pro at the Unpacked event. Both phones will go on sale on August 26.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 review (early verdict): what the flip? (T3)

The fourth-gen Flip brings minor updates to the best pocketable folding phone.

I've not extensively used the Z Flip 4 regarding its cameras, so cannot yet say how much of a jump forward the larger-scale main sensor is. However, if you're looking for a clamshell foldable then I still don't think there's anything better on the market than what Samsung has to offer. I've not used the Z Flip 4 for long as yet, but I am confident about Samsung's software functioning strongly. Given the general limited space within a foldable device such as this I'm not surprised there's not more of a significant change. Technically speaking the Flip 4 is 0.8mm less tall and 0.3mm less wide thanks to a slimmer hinge, but I don't think you'll notice that if comparing both devices in hand. Not a gigantic boost, and nowhere near the top speeds of some competitors, but a needed push forward in this department nonetheless. However, I do have a question mark over how well the 8+ Gen 1 will perform within a device such as this, just on account of heat production within a slim and foldable format. Yes, I can now reply to a message and deploy a phone call, but I'm much more likely to flip the device open first just to do that. So physically the Z Fold 4 looks like an echo of its predecessor, unless you decide to pick the new Bora Purple finish, which is new for 2022. As I touched upon up top, the Z Fold 4 doesn't differ much at all from the Z Fold 3 of before. The smaller of which, the Galaxy Z Flip 4, I've already had my mitts on at a private London event ahead of the official reveal for this early first impressions review. Which, from my point of view, isn't exactly a bad thing: I thought (and still think) the earlier flippable foldable is a cute-looking alternative phone format that's also practical.

What the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 tell us about the future ... (Digital Camera World)

The under-display cameras seen on the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 could be a thing of the future – we spoke to an expert in OLED screen technology.

In the age of content creators of Instagrams and TikToks, there is still much space for future innovation. The other approach seen in models like the Xiaomi Mix 4 would be to have a smaller window area and essentially no change in the emissive pixel structure, thus making the window area not noticeable at all, but with a sacrifice of camera performance. One approach is to maximize window area and thus camera performance but result in a very noticeable window area. The challenge for the under display camera is two-fold. Of course, all cameras today are technically underneath the screen physically, but the innovation here is that the area where the camera is, can also display information. Jacky has been working with OTI Lumionics – a leader in the development of advanced materials for OLED displays – for over ten years.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 hands-on review: The Flip is back (Expert Reviews)

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4: Samsung updates the Galaxy Z Flip with a revamped cover screen, slimmer hinge and a handful of new camera features.

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, and it comes with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of storage. This secondary display launches with a handful of new functionalities and customisability options this year. This is a trick that still works wonders, and personally, it’s something I prefer to the flip-to-enlarge design of the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The Galaxy Z Flip 4’s colour options are livelier than its more serious business-focussed Fold counterpart. The inner Dynamic AMOLED 2x display measures 6.7in across the diagonal, with a resolution of 2,640 x 1,080 and an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. With the new Moto Razr launch in limbo – it was pulled from release mere hours before its scheduled unveiling – the Z Flip 4’s folding design remains unique.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 hands-on review: First impressions of all ... (Tom's Guide)

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 has a new skin-temperature reader, more scratch-resistant display and a longer-lasting battery life.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 seems to introduce a respectable collection of incremental upgrades. I still need to wear the Galaxy Watch 5 overnight to gauge the coaching experience and general accuracy. But unlike the option between the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 vs. I look forward to putting the Galaxy Watch 5 through the same trials, so stay tuned. I’ll update this review as I get more experience with the Galaxy Watch 5. As you might recall, last year the standard Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 offered an updated shape and feel compared to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic remains on sale as well. The most notable new internal Galaxy Watch 5 feature is the addition of a temperature analysis sensor, which appears to exist separately from Samsung’s 3-in-1 BioActive sensor. Speaking of health sensors, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 has a new one to offer — a skin-temperature reader. Though be sure to check out my hands-on Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro review. Otherwise, the watch is positioned to become the best Samsung watch for most people, and could even be the best smartwatch of the year. No, it’s not all that different from last year’s Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, but the handful of upgrades have incremental, yet ample appeal.

Samsung Is In A League Of Its Own With Its Z Series Devices (Forbes)

1-Ranked Industry Analyst Patrick Moorhead covers Samsung's Unpacked event, where Samsung announced its next-generation Z Fold4, Z Flip3, Galaxy Buds2 Pro, ...

The Galaxy Watch5 Pro, which seems to adopt the naming schema of the Galaxy Buds is even more durable than the Galaxy Watch5. It has a sapphire crystal display and titanium casing. The Galaxy Watch5 Pro has the first of its kind on a Galaxy watch GPX features for hiking and biking. The Z Fold4 is still unmatched in terms of productivity and multitasking. The Galaxy Z Fold4 will be the first device to support Android 12L, a version of Android 12 that is specific to foldable and dual display devices. The Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4 have sleeker and more compact designs while improving overall device durability. If we look at how Samsung has taken the Note series and integrated it into the Z and S series devices, I would not be surprised to see a Z Fold with a built-in S pen in the coming years. Last year it introduced the 3-in-3 BioActive Sensor, and this year it is improving the accuracy and adding on a temperature sensor for a more in-depth understanding of wellness. The design aesthetics of the Z Fold4 has not changed very much, but Samsung has managed to make the chassis and the design slimmer and sleeker. The Snapdragon 8+ gen 1 is in both the Z Fold4 and Z Flip4 globally and enables the Z Series to be flagship powerhouses in performance, connectivity, and camera capabilities. The foldable displays on the Z Fold4 and Z Flip4 are 45% stronger than the main screen panel on the Z Fold3 and Z Flip3. I believe display durability is one of the main concerns for new fold users. For the Samsung Z Flip devices, Samsung does not need to spend a whole lot of time on the camera because the unique positioning and capabilities of the Z Series devices is not boring. I was an early user of the first generation and have gotten my hands on every generation of both the Z Fold and Z Flip. Last year it was an 80% improvement, and this year it is a 45% improvement in the durability of the folding display.

The best Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 deals to pre-order today (TechRadar)

Here's how to save on your next foldable with all the best Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 pre-order deals.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, while exceptionally pricey, could just be the device to push high-end foldable devices into the mainstream. So far, our top choices are Vodafone's Unlimited Max plan for £69 per month (lowest possible upfront cost) and Samsung's trade-in program for unlocked devices specifically. Note, as with all big Verizon promotions, this one is open to both new and existing but you will need a new line on an unlimited data plan to be eligible. Trade-ins are the name of the game with Verizon's opening Galaxy Z Flip 4 pre-order deals - with a massive potential saving of up to $800 on the cards. Generally speaking, this promotion falls in line with the usual offerings from this carrier although you'll also bag a free case and an upgrade to 256GB storage. While pricey, this new flagship is shaping up to be an enthusiast's dream, and better yet still, there are some fantastic ways to get yourself a discount at launch - especially if you're willing to trade in your old device or pick up a new plan.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro — price, release date, specs and more (Tom's Guide)

Samsung has officially unveiled its Galaxy Buds 2 Pro earbuds with improved sonics, ANC and battery life. Here's everything you need to know.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro 2 earbuds have arrived! Sound tuning is by Samsung-owned audio specialist AKG. The Buds 2 Pro feature a newly designed 2-way coaxial speaker driver to handle separate mid/bass and high frequency bands. This is exclusive to Galaxy smartphones with Android 8.0 and One UI 4.1 or later with 1.5GB RAM or above. We'd hope for modest improvements in sound quality and ANC, while we definitely prefer the new design based on what we've seen so far. Our full review will be available in the coming days, along with face-offs against their closest competitors, so stay tuned for more. Thankfully, they look nothing like the awkward Samsung Galaxy Buds Live. The weight is under 0.2 ounces per bud. Samsung's Bixby assistant is fully compatible, as you'd expect, and can be activated through the touch-and-hold gesture — but there's no mention of Siri or Google Assistant support. The case, meanwhile, should provide 20 hours with ANC on and 30 hours with it off. Customers who pre-order will get a free wireless charger, and Samsung is offering money off and credit on eligible Galaxy Buds trade ins. Take calls on-the-go with powerful ANC29 to eliminate outside noise. This leaves AirPods Pro trailing behind in terms of day-to-day battery life performance. The charging case is not rated for water resistance.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 review in progress: A smarter (and ... (Tom's Guide)

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 delivers a better foldable experience with Android 12L in a sleeker and lighter design.

But the Galaxy Z Fold 4 could be worth the splurge for those who demand the ultimate in productivity on the go — with some fun on the side. It has the same battery capacity of 4,400 mAh as the Galaxy Z Fold 4. This is one of the things that makes me nervous about the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 supports S Pen input, but there's no built-in holster for the pen. The Galaxy Z Fold series is no longer a step behind the Galaxy S series when it comes to cameras. And the Z Fold 4 really impresses when you look in the shadow areas. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 does a generally solid job capturing this statue of William Cullen Bryant. While the statue itself could be a bit more crisp, the surrounding stone has a remarkable amount of detail. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is available for pre-order now and has a release date of August 26. The Z Fold 4 measures 6.1 x 2.6 x 0.55-0.62 inches open and 6.1 x 5.1 x 0.21 inches closed, compared to 6.2 x 2.6 x 0.56 to 0.62 inches (closed), 6.2 x 5 x 0.25 inches (open) for the Z Flip 3. To make multitasking easier, there's a new Taskbar that appears at the bottom of the Galaxy Z Fold 4's display that automatically shows your recent apps. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 should be available through major retailers as well as all three big wireless carriers in the U.S. Be sure to check out our how to pre-order the Galaxy Z Fold 4 page for the best sales and discounts. And that's because it has a wider aspect ratio than the Galaxy Z Fold 3 (opens in new tab). That makes the 6.2-inch panel easier to use with one hand and frankly will make you feel more comfortable using the cover screen for things like checking notifications and quickly responding to messages.

Hands on: Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro review (What Hi-Fi?)

Samsung claims world's-first end-to-end 24-bit high-res audio support in new Galaxy Buds 2 Pro true wireless earbuds.

How good they sound will be put to the test once we get our hands (and ears) on a review sample, but we have high hopes – could it change the standard of wireless audio? The 24-bit high-resolution audio support is the big draw here and those marrying the latest Samsung Galaxy devices with the new Buds 2 Pro will get the full-fat end-to-end high-res sound experience. That's the question we asked at the start of our original Galaxy Buds Pro review, and the question remains pertinent – even more so. For a full test of the Buds 2 Pro earbuds' 24-bit hi-res audio chops, we'll have to wait until we get our own review sample to try out. As long as they're Samsung's 2022 smart TVs, you can seamlessly and wirelessly connect them to the Buds 2 Pro. The fact that you get improved specs and new features for the same price also bodes well in Samsung's favour.

Samsung Unpacked 2022 live – Galaxy Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, Watch 5 ... (T3)

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked is happening right now, so join T3's phone expert, Robert Jones, for all the build up news.

As such, my wish list for the Z Flip 4 (and I naturally speak for all phone users), is a thinner phone with improved camera system and larger battery. So if Samsung can really deliver the Pro-grade tech in the Buds 2 Pro, that will be a step in the right direction. Indeed, it was only with last year'sSamsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 (and almost more importantly, with its Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3) that the South Korean maker's foldable phones really took off. However, it's battery life and camera system is not up to the standards of the best non-folding phones, so a bump in battery capacity and camera quality would be superb. Regular readers of T3.com will know that I'm a big fan of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 phone. It's like having two phones glued back to back in your pocket instead of one, so if the Fold 4 can be thinner and lighter, that would be a big improvement. Indeed, the idea of having a phone and tablet in one device really appeals to me. The Galaxy Watch 5 will apparently come in two sizes, a 40mm variant and a 44mm model. To make the Fold 4 lighter the display has been redesigned, and a metal layer has been removed. This is the news I know a lot of you have been waiting for. He seems to be highlighting that you can hold the Galaxy Z Flip 4 in different ways to standard phones. We get a feely goody story about Samsung engineers pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

That's primarily to do with the performance. All models are round, and feature Samsung's two-button control on the side. That means you get Samsung's BioActive sensor on the underside for all-day heart rate monitoring and sleep tracking.
