Rangers vs St Johnstone - live updates (Scottish Daily Record)

Rangers ensured they'd be back in European action next week but first the Saints visit Ibrox on League duty.

Colak has again shown his worth with a third in three matches but midfielders Jack and Lundstram were the catalyst. It was simply a long afternoon for the Saints who return to Perth empty handed. With just one goal between the sides at the break, Callum Davidson's side would have been hopeful they still had a grip on the game. St Johnstone are pushing more of their men forward in a bid to be more promising in the final 25 minutes. Tillman's through ball is just underhit but Matondo refuses to give it up and he gets a toe on the ball to take it away from Wright and into the path of Colak, who instantly spins and drills into the bottom corner. The ball falls to Jack following the corner who has a strike from outside the box. Tavernier does well and chips to ball into Morelos in the box. Matondo clips it in and Alfredo Morelos is his target in the box. A challenge from Carey gives Rangers a free kick outside the corner of the box. It seems to be a positive partnership from the Rangers pair. It's been ruthless stuff from Rangers today - they've barely been troubled despite changes to the starting line-up and a St Johnstone side set up to camp on the edge of their own box. It was a tough afternoon for St Johnstone who saw four goals in the back of their net.

The offensive midfielder (this is a very serious team of the week for the attack!) and รฉ the first of four players on this team to score two goals over the weekend. "I like to defend, some would say in the style of an old-fashioned quarterback. If the finale of the Edinburgh derby was dramatic, the final at Fir Park on Saturday was even more. It's two goalless games for the Bairns, already; which last season's runners-up won 4-0 at Excelsior Stadium, with Gallagher scoring twice. "Liam Gordon went through a team B game in the middle of the week, so he is; in shape again. "We just have to work together, รฉ the key to having good communication. I play football to win. "I think we approached the game very well with a lot of patience. I personally want to win every game. understand, we have to make good use of it so we can put pressure on them.'' Report: Rangers 4-0 St Johnstone (Rangers Football Club)

RANGERS secured a comfortable 4-0 win and all three points in the Scottish Premiership this afternoon against St Johnstone at a baking hot Ibrox.

Three minutes later, it was 4-0, with Tom Lawrence getting his first goal for the club. Goal number three of the afternoon then arrived on 80 minutes. Breaking the lines once more was James Tavernier, getting into the box, turning back to feed Arfield, with Arfield then cutting the ball back for Lawrence on the penalty box to sweep home. Drey Wright was sloppy in possession in his own box, and wise to that was Rabbi Matondo to slide in and get the ball to Colak to turn and slide a super finish past Matthews to give Gers their deserved cushion. He sent a stunning ball to the back post, and there, peeling off his marker, was Malik Tillman for his second headed goal in as many games, crashing his effort in off the bar from a pretty acute angle. St Johnstone then had an opportunity on 17 minutes when a loose ball dropped for a grounded Thelonius Bair in the box to stab wide of the target.
