It's an exciting time at the moment with the beginning of the new campaign now only a few days away.
Evie Gane, who dual-signed with Watford in January, has also agreed to stay on the South Coast. After being relegated from this level in 2015/16, Argyle to this day will still be scratching their heads at how they didn’t return at the first attempt. While usually better than the teams below them, they’ve not had quite enough to make that extra push towards the top end. With several departures, the next season was a real struggle, as the team lost all seven games before the pandemic intervened again. No Watford fans will be forgetting that 5-4 win at Home Park in a hurry, with both teams putting on a fantastic display. As you would expect though with their location, there hasn’t been too much turnover with the squad. Shannon Albuery and Cherelle Khassel were both prolific scorers, while Tamsin De Bunsen was very much the provider. While there’s no doubt that Lumsden will be a big miss, the U’s have managed to recruit well so far this summer in other positions. The long serving centre-back Katie Middleton, who also donned the gloves on the odd occasion, retired this summer. There have also been additions to the backline. They were awarded a licence for the newly formed FA WSL 2 and finished ninth in the inaugural 2014 season. Remarkably, the draw between the two was the only time the U’s dropped points at home all season.
