Urban Voodoo Machine frontman Paul-Ronney Angel plays ... (Brighton and Hove News)

Tonight he had garnered musicians and friends to join him, a real “super group”, The Bad Mofos. ... And a local saxophone player from Brighton). Paul-Ronney Angel ...

It was outside and the crowd was suitably spaced on the lawns and on the few tables scattered around. Superb performances and the night came to a close around 11:30pm. This was important, this turned out to be the first live gig, a full on rock and roll gig in Brighton since the initial pandemic lockdown. Another cover was served up, and a track from the latest album was ‘I Wanna Be Sedated’ (Ramones). From the accordion played by Slim/MilS to the guitars, percussion and vocals this all comes together to form a truly potent mix. They are made up of Long Tall Texans, a Piranha and Preachermen. Clearly a very emotional Angel and the Mofos gave a heart tugging rendition of ‘Green Green Grass Of Home’. The music was a mix up of everything promised. As always, a top percussion performance, but great to see him moving about the stage and sharing a joke or two with Tom. A delightful musician and a delight to meet. Angel took to the stage to a huge cheer from an almost capacity crowd and took the first couple of songs on his own, breaking us in slowly starting with the whistle easing us into his first solo release, ‘One Ghost Town’ followed by ‘Seven Spanish Angels’. The banter between the members of the band was at times hilarious.

Gareth Southgate sent message over Brighton star compared with ... (Sussex Live)

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has commended Robert Sanchez for his display against West Ham United and believes Brighton teammate Lewis ...

And at the other end, he is always good to get a goal. He said Sanchez pulled off some fine saves in the clean sheet victory and Dunk should be considered for the England squad. A solid performance." The result took them up to fifth in the Premier League, with Graham Potter's team picking up seven points from a possible nine so far. The 30-year-old's solitary cap for his country was back in 2018. And a clean sheet as well!

Chelsea consider Brighton defender which could give Bristol City ... (BristolWorld)

Bristol City could stand to gain a sizeable sum of money if Chelsea move their attention to signing Brighton defender Adam Webster.

Webster departed Bristol City back in 2019 after stating his desire to leave and that saw them pocket £20m, which is a club record for a fee received for a player. Chelsea - who suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Leeds United - are on the search for a new centre-back but may have hit a roadblock in their pursuit of Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana. A major sale of one of their star players could change things but at the late stage of the window, the preference would be to hold on to their prized assets and build on what is a young but talented squad.

From The Jam entertain fans for a second night in a row in Brighton (Brighton and Hove News)

They were one of the more successful groups to emerge during the revival, and they re-formed with the four original members for a UK tour during 2010. The humour from Russel, Bruce and Andy was super as the banter flowed and stories and memories of the past were related to us. Top performance again from the “ex-Chord”, it’s nice to see he is still around performing as a solo artist or with Chords UK. The set was packed with old ones, favourite ones, forgotten about ones and yes a new one! The voices seemed louder, most of the crowd were up on their feet and a mosh pit opened up for the revved up classics played tonight. The heat and humidity in St Peter’s went through the roof with the set closers: Derek has photographed The Jam from the early days and has a collection of photos recently published. They are back together and the magic was happening and sounding as dynamic and fresh as ever. They jumped around the list with Foxton and Hastings pointing at the next song that they wanted to do next, and at times, asking for “any requests” and I’m pretty sure the replies from the packed in crowd were on the list. I was lucky to share the pit with my friend Derek D’Souza, who got a great shout from Russell, “you must have a new book out!”. [From The Jam](https://www.facebook.com/FromTheJam/) consists of the legendary former ‘The Jam’ bass player Bruce Foxton, plus on vocals and guitars there is Russell Hastings, and Andy Fairclough is on a set of keyboards. I have seen and photographed From The Jam at their double night at Concorde 2 and at their quite magnificent show at the Brighton Dome.
