Wolves boss Bruno Lage responds to Arsenal interest in Pedro Neto ... (Daily Express)

ARSENAL have been linked with a move for Wolves ace Pedro Neto.

“In the morning he didn’t feel that he could play,” Lage added. “He had some pains so he stayed out of the squad.” Last season, he was only able to muster 10 Premier League appearances as his side finished 10th in the table. Neto has started Wolves’ opening three Premier League games of the season but is yet to find the back of the net as his side have picked-up just one point courtesy of a 0-0 draw with Fulham. Wolves have already rejected a £1m bid from Forest for the ace - but there appears to be another offer on the table. But the 46-year-old has confirmed that his club have received a proposal for defender Willy Boly.

Wolves’ lack of depth, and need for a first win of the season, saw Lage name a strong side, recalling Jimenez, Hwang and Traore. It was his first Wolves goal since January, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Barcelona only to return to Molineux. Adama Traore’s spectacular strike also ensured Bruno Lage’s side secured their first win of the season, even after Hwang Hee-Chan’s first-half penalty miss and Ben Woodburn’s consolation.

Trending topics | Wolves 2-1 Preston (wolves.co.uk)

Wolves' victory over Preston North End in the Carabao Cup and the impact on the game Hee Chan Hwang's penalty miss made were just some of the topics ...

For a centre-forward to have the ball in his hands and then to give it to somebody else, he gave it to Hwang who unfortunately missed it, it puts that pressure on you. “He wants his philosophy to be put out on the pitch because we’re still building a new system. If Jimenez goes and scores a minimum of two goals – if he takes the pen, he’s scoring the pen – and he gets a minimum of two goals and that breeds confidence. Thompson said: “I think we have to be professional, and when you’re professional, your normal penalty taker takes the penalty. Preston changed their formation a little bit and tried to nullify the threat of Wolves and they stopped our players getting beyond their back line and made it difficult for us. “Games like this can do that and for players like Jimenez, he could get two tonight and it makes him full of confidence going into the weekend.

Adama Traore sends message to Bruno Lage as Raul Jimenez ... (Birmingham Live)

Latest Wolves news from BirminghamLive includes our findings from the 2-1 win over Preston in the Carabao Cup.

Lage already seems taken by his new midfielder and he seems certain to start on Sunday. While Hwang failed to grasp his chance back in the starting line-up, Adama Traore certainly did. Hwang missed it and handed the initiative to Preston. At the end Wolves resorted to keeping the ball to ensure they saw the game out. Wolves passed up the opportunity to kill the game and within three minutes of the restart, Woodburn handed Preston a lifeline. Jimenez demonstrated the lack of ruthlessness we’ve come to expect from Wolves.
