Leeds United chief executive Angus Kinnear has responded to Thomas Tuchel's claim that Chelsea were the better side on Sunday.

But I really love beating them.’” "Despite Chelsea 'being the better team' (sic) and, only consigned to certain defeat because their backroom team had to suffer the ignominy of a luxury coach journey to Elland Road, there was a lot for us all to be proud of in our performance on Sunday,” Kinnear wrote. [Thomas Tuchel](/topic/thomas-tuchel) insisted upon the final whistle that his side were the better team, despite the three-goal deficit. Match Recap: Leeds United 3-1 Barnsley (Through It All Together)

Thw Whites progress into the 3rd round of the League Cup...

(@catling22) Perhaps some work to do for the group as a whole, but their performance has ultimately earned a League Cup third-round tie. At the other end, The Whites grabbed their third goal after Gelhardt refused to give up on a broken-down attack. Styles stepped-up but luckily couldn’t convert, hitting the outside of the right post, though Meslier also made a good effort in covering his goal. The Barnsley full-back brought him down in the penalty area, leaving the referee no choice but to point to the spot. He turned and dropped a shoulder, opening up room for a whipped strike from 25 yards out, curling the ball past the keeper and into the right corner of the net.

Leeds United 3-0 Chelsea, Premier League: Tactical Debacle (We Ain't Got No History)

The formational tweak employed against Tottenham by moving Mason Mount deeper into the midfield to both shore up our defensive structure while adding bodies to ...

In the meantime, Tuchel needs to focus on restructuring a midfield and Koulibaly-less defense (and likely a manager-less sideline) that can lead us to victory over And then comes the 64th minute substitutions and the complete destruction of our midfield through our own desperation. And as our offensive crosses and corners were not finding their marks, we have again conceded a goal similar to the second against Tottenham from disorganised, zonal marking during a wide free kick. Despite some fluid movement and much more structure to the formation due to a better understanding in their natural positions, the change came too late. Crossing accuracy was only 20%, so only 4 of the 20 crosses we placed into the box had a Chelsea target contesting it, and that includes our 6 corners. Tuchel has been rigidly consistent when it has come to our structure, only deploying the 4-2-2-2 a few times last season, and it was clearly more suited for the selection of players available and the strategy of the opposition. While previously mentioning that Loftus-Cheek only had one cross into the box, our crossing as a whole was horrendous. For me, more interesting stats are that Chelsea got caught offsides seven times, meaning our runs are mistimed, the balls to them are inadequate, and our midfield and striking partnership is disjointed. While James can deputise the right side of a back three when situations require (such as against a quick winger), Leeds’ quick and tricky winger has begrudgingly gone to Barcelona this summer. 6 and was paired with the least beneficial partner for that role. And that’s also not to say that the first 5 or 20 minutes were all Chelsea, because the alarms were whistling even prior to kickoff. It was quite clear by the end of this first half that we needed help in the midfield transition while getting the ball forward in cohesive movements.

All of the marks out of 10 for Jesse Marsch's Leeds United side at Elland Road after their Carabao Cup clash with Barnsley on Wednesday night as Luis ...

Brought so much more than Hjelde to the left flank and even showed a turn of speed to give Barnsley issues in their own backline. Dug into a fantastic tackle which created the third goal and so lively in and around the box. Showed the match's best moment of quality with the opening goal and barely had to get out of third gear in winning the penalty. Rolled in his penalty with nonchalant ease and showed class in his cultured second finish, but did not get Leeds ticking in an attacking sense otherwise. Improved as the game wore on in an attacking sense too though. Made a strong save to deny Devante Cole earlier in the first half, but a pretty quiet night for him.

"Outstanding" - Former Chelsea man pinpoints key Jesse Marsch ... (LeedsAllOver)

Former Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has heaped praise on the tactical decisions made by Leeds United's Jesse Marsch on Sunday.

They showed Chelsea, in a way, what it is to play with a bit of heart and fight really.” “You saw his first sub was at 60 minutes and then he made another three attacking subs to go on and keep that tempo high. “It worked perfectly just as you said.
