With the future of Spa as a grand prix venue in doubt, BEN EDWARDS admits not everyone will be disappointed if it is dropped from the calendar.

Now, as OLEG KARPOV explains, he’s got to do it all over again just to preserve his place in Formula 1 after the shock news of his departure from McLaren… Formula 1 has pulled off a major coup in encouraging Audi to join the series as an engine manufacturer from the 2026 season. The prospect of the Belgian Grand Prix no longer providing the annual kickstart for the second part of the Formula 1 season is a downer for me.

10 stunning WAGs of British F1 drivers past and present - including ... (Daily Star)

Formula1 returns for the Belgian Grand Prix after a 28 day hiatus - and so too will the many wives and partners of the drivers.

In 1996, Damon Hill followed in his illustrious Father’s footsteps by becoming the first son of a F1 World Champion to go on and win the Championship himself. The couple were very on and off for the best part of eight years between 2007 and 2015. Button and Michibata had been by each other’s side since the year he won his only F1 World Championship. After four years of engagement, Button tied the knot with his model partner Brittny Ward in a ceremony in Palm Desert California. Considering the fact Hunt had ‘Sex-Breakfast of Champions’ emblazoned on his overalls and has previously claimed to have slept with 5000 women. The silent Scot never married, but he did strike up a loving relationship with his girlfriend Sally Swart. But the excitement carried on away from the track, as Irvine is believed to have dated the likes of Manuela Arcuri, Pamela Anderson and Kate Moss. Coulthard had been married to wife of nine years Karen Minier, but the pair are believed to have split at the start of 2021. However, he did marry model Suzy Miller, only for the pair to separate after barely 14 months of marriage. Having graduated with a degree in business management and finance from the University of Westminster, Montero’s mind is as sharp as Russell’s reactions. And with the wives and partners also returning for the Belgian Grand Prix along with the drivers, Daily Star Sport considers ten of Britain’s greatest drivers’ other halves. And in similarly romantic fashion, Norris revealed his relationship with Portuguese model Luisinha Oliveira during a holiday in Dubai.

F1 results: Belgian GP 2022 full standings as Max Verstappen and ... (iNews)

F1 in 2022 was supposed to be more exciting than ever, but the days of single driver dominance are back. Max Verstappen on the podium in Belgium.

“Would you like new mediums to go through the traffic or new hards?” Leclerc was asked during the race when the team’s calculations predicted a fifth place finish. Verstappen heads to the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort next Sunday with a 93-point lead over team-mate Perez and 98 ahead of Charles Leclerc. Both Red Bull team principal Christian Horner and Verstappen expressed surprise at the outcome, neither party anticipating the ease with which the race would be won. - Esteban Ocon – Alpine – +1:15.640 - Charles Leclerc – Ferrari – +1:14.936 - Fernando Alonso – Alpine – +1:16.256 - Carlos Sainz – Ferrari – +26.866 Moreover the new regulations have inadvertently stripped the contest of the intensity that we saw last season when between them Verstappen and Hamilton fashioned one of the great finales. Whilst from a technical point of view the return of ground effect aerodynamics has made it easier for the cars to follow each other and thus to overtake, the performance advantage inherent in Verstappen’s Red Bull has rendered the new rules irrelevant. It appears deeply ironic now that the aero changes introduced this term were brought in to improve the racing. Over the remaining eight races it would be extraordinary were Verstappen not to reset the number for most wins in a season, presently held by Schumacher and Vettel on 13. Either side of Formula One’s summer break Verstappen has pummelled the field to transport the sport, not towards the spectacular future for which all hoped when its governing body the FIA ushered in radical regulation changes, but back to the days of single driver dominance.

While Hamilton had an afternoon to forget, Verstappen drove a perfect race to take his ninth victory of the season, extending his lead in the Drivers' Championship. The Dutchman had climbed six places by the end of the first lap when the safety car was deployed due to the retirements of Hamilton and Alfa Romeo's Valtteri Bottas, who was the victim of a separate crash with Nicholas Latifi, that forced him into the gravel. Hamilton, who was on a streak of five-consecutive podium finishes, took too much track when trying to overtake Alonso and made contact with the Spaniard as he turned in on him, sending the back half ot the Briton's car into the air before a safe landing.

However, he failed to oblige and picked up a warning as a result of his reluctance to comply with the order, as revealed by Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft. Hamilton was given acres of space around the outside of Les Combes but still managed to make contact with Alonso, with the resulting damage leaving him unable to continue in a hammer blow for the Silver Arrows.
